The incident was the scenario of Emergency Response Training (PKD) the 85thDirgantara Raharja anniversary of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero), which was held at the Sam Ratulangi Airport. This exercise involved about 400 personnel, consisting of Airport Emergency Committee and Airport Security Committee of Angkasa Pura I, Perum LPPNPI, TNI / Polri, Basarnas, firefighters, as well as hospitals around Manado.

"This event is an exercise integrated conducted regularly and continuously to test the functions of coordination, communication, and command between units and agencies in accordance with the document of Airport Emergency Plan Document and the Airport Security Program Document. This activity is also to train and strengthen the ability of personnel in accordance with their respective duties," said President Director of Angkasa Pura I Sulistyo Wimbo S. Hardjito.

In addition to full-scale exercises such as aircraft crashes, also conducted building fire simulation (domestic fire) and the terror bombing at the airport (aviation security exercise), as part of the training concept of one day of this exercise. "In the business of airport affairs, aspects of aviation safety and security is a top priority which is mandatory and must be used as extra attention because it involves the safety of human lives. Therefore, through this training we hope to determine the level of readiness of both personnel and tools supporting,"added Wimbo.

Throughout 2015, Angkasa Pura I has carried out an exercise like this at six airports, namely in Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan, Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang, Lombok International Airport, MakassarSultan Hasanuddin,KupangEl TariAirport, and ManadoSam Ratulangi Airport, "It is planned that in 2016 will be held againthis PKD Training in six other airports," said Wimbo.
