SIDOARJO - Narcotics Customs Team of Juanda, Surabaya, East Java, defeated drug smuggling attempt type Sabu weighing 1.97 kilograms or 3 billion IDR. This case became the eleventh smuggling cases handled by the Customs and Excise Juanda during 2014. Of the 11 cases, 11 drug offenders arrested and 11,7 kilogram narcotics various types seized. 

Acting Head of the Regional Office of Directorate General of Customs and Excise Java I Agus Yulianto in a press conference on Thursday (30/10), in Sidoarjo, East Java, say, from 11 arrested offenders; the majorities are foreign nationals, namely eight people. As for Indonesian citizens only three people. "The foreigners brought drugs into the Surabaya. While citizen actors typically act as messengers or intermediaries who take the goods to be delivered to the buyer or the customer," said Agus. 

The last case also involves foreigners. Actors named Wu Chi Lung (38), a resident of Hong Kong. He came on board Cathay Pacific flight CX-781 number of Hong Kong-Surabaya route, Friday (17/10). Shortly after Wu Chi Lung landing in Juanda Airport Terminal II, the officer observed the man. From the results of a physical examination, the goods were allegedly found drugs in organ attached. "Once disassembled, it was found 17 packs of goods those were attached at the abdomen, 4 packs attached on the right foot, and 4 packs again attached at the foot of the left. The total weight of 1.97 kilograms of goods," said Agus. 

Director of the East Java Regional Police Drug Investigation Commissioner Andi Ludianto said, after receiving a report from the Customs and Excise Juanda, it sent investigators to develop this case. "The result is an investigator secured a courier named Edi (27) in an inn in the area Jatinegara, Jakarta. Edi was the one who took the goods to be brought to the next network which this time also been successful in our unloading," said Andi. 

The offender accused of violating Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics. They could face the death penalty, life imprisonment, or imprisonment of 20 years and a maximum fine of 0 billion IDR plus a third. East Java Police have also coordinated with other regional police and the Police Headquarters to discuss the entire drug network in Indonesia and looking for linkages between networks. The reason, a lot of drugs cases in other regions have a common origin, mainly from Hong Kong. 

Andi said the circumstance of drug trafficking in the country is alarming because Indonesia has become one of the countries of destination. In fact, drug sales target is the younger generation. Therefore, disclosures of drug cases, both local and international scale, continue to be encouraged. "This year alone has three local cases we said, the two Sabu factories in Sidoarjo and one methamphetamine factory in Malang. Those factories have a large production and marketing network to a number of cities," he said. Andi said will continue to improve cooperation with a number of agencies to combat drug trafficking, such as the Customs and Excise Juanda, East Java Province National Narcotics Agency, and Navy.
