BALIKPAPAN – Anticipating for the Lebaran season, Angkasa Pura Airports Sepinggan Branch will operate three mudik (homecoming travel) posts as information, security and monitoring centers. General Manager of Angkasa Pura Airports Sepinggan Balikpapan Branch, Wendo Asrul Rose said, the three mudik posts will be located in the arrival area, departure area, and in the old airport area. “This year will be different from last year, for the terminal is bigger now thus the monitoring post will also be added,” he explained.

Angkasa Pura Airports is also coordinating with some related parties in operating the posts, such as Lanud Sepinggan and Sepinggan Airport Precinct. Head of Airport Precinct Police Commissioner Nina Ike Herawati said, this year’s security will be different compared to last year’s. Last year, we set up only one post for facilitating the mudik travelers. “The new terminal is now has four levels and is bigger, so we plan to have more posts,” she explained.

Nina mentioned that there will be 30 personnel of Sepinggan Airport Precinct ready to serve at the posts. That number is still going to be adding up by other security forces such as Angkasa Pura and The Airforce.
On the other hand, Wendo explained that during this year’s Ramadan, he prepares 500 takjil dishes (light meals for breaking the fast) for the passengers of Sepinggan Balikpapan International Airport. “This activity has been started since the beginning of the fasting month and will be continued until the end of the fasting month,” he said. This free takjil service is an annual activity done by Angkasa Pura Airports Sepinggan Branch. According to Wendo, this is one of their efforts in improving service quality to the customers.
