JAKARTA – Angkasa Pura Airports continues to innovate in operating its business, including in carrying out airport and tourism education. This is demonstrated by Angkasa Pura Airports by presenting the “Airport Geeks” board game as a means of airport and tourism education through games.

The “Airport Geeks” boardgame is presented as the Company’s endeavor in providing an attractive alternative entertainment for the community and families in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic to spend time at home while introducing the airport business and promoting tourist destinations.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has made a tremendous impact on aviation industry, especially airport sector, with a significant decline in passenger traffic in 2020 compared to 2019. However, this did not dampen the enthusiasm of PT Angkasa Pura I’s personnel to continue to search for innovations and breakthroughs to continue working. The pandemic has encouraged the company’s millennial generation to create innovative ideas, including the Travel Destination Boardgame product under the name “Airport Geeks. The product is an initiative of Angkasa Pura Airports to innovate to promote tourist destinations and educate in a creative manner,” AP I’s Marketing and Service Director, Devy Suradji.

The soft launching of “Airport Geeks” boardgame was marked by the presentation of “Airport Geeks” at the 11th Indonesian Contemporary Art & Design (ICAD) Exhibition held from October 21 to November 28, 2021. In addition to occupy a spot in the exhibition of contemporary art and design, “Airport Geeks” can also be played by the visitors.

In accordance with this year’s ICAD theme, “Public” and the Company’s vision of “Connecting the World Beyond Airport Operator with Indonesian Experience”, Angkasa Pura Airports as a public service industry player believes in the importance of the public as an audience, service users, consumers, and trendsetters and strives to continue to innovate to respond to modern-day development through creative ideas about what may be relevant to the public during the pandemic.

“Through the 11th Indonesian Contemporary Art & Design Exhibition, it is hoped that it will become a branding platform to build a portfolio and expand the exposure of Airport Geeks boardgame to creative activists for the Company, while continuing to improve and be prepared to welcome the revival of aviation and tourism industry after the pandemic,” Devy Suradji said.

The Airport Geeks boardgame was designed and trialled to find an easy-to-understand formula for children from the ages of 11 to adults. The presence of Airport Geeks boardgame is expected to provide fun recreational and entertainment facility for the younger generation, families, and the community during the pandemic.
