SURABAYA - The atmosphere in Surabaya Juanda Airport became tense, heard a barrage of shots at terminal 1, followed by the sound of a very loud bomb explosion on Monday (13/10). Shortly thereafter visible smoke rising from Ibis Budget Hotel, guests frantically running out after the fire alarm went off. The Force Frogs (Kopaska) swiftly arrested terrorists who had seized Aviation Security (Avsec) who were on guard at the Terminal Building and securing bomb planted by terrorists. Likewise also the PKP-PK officers swiftly extinguish a fire which destroyed several rooms at Ibis Budget hotel guests as well as save. 

A few minutes later, ATC Officer receives emergency signals from aircraft Camar Air Bali Surabaya route. The pilot reported a bird strike that affected engine on fire and will make an emergency landing. Above incident is part of the Emergency Response training scenario (PKD) the 78th of Raharja Aerospace in Surabaya Juanda Airport. The theme for this was a one-day training exercise, the implementation of activities that combine three exercises in one day exercise which includes security, fire and building full-scale exercise of aircraft accident. The fourth Exercise in 2014 involves various agencies such as Basarnas, Navy, Police, Airlines, Paramedic, Fire and other related agencies. Through his speech in the opening ceremony of PKD the 78th this, Tommy Soetomo as President Director of Angkasa Pura Airports said that Emergency Response exercise is a regular activity organized by Angkasa Pura Airports as its commitment in providing the best service for its stakeholders. "If an emergency is declared, airports will require special handling to interference and emerging threats, through the exercise of PKD is expected the personnels to be always alert in the field and can coordinate quickly in the event of an emergency such as a bomb threat from terrorists, building fires and especially aircraft accidents that may occur at any time," said Tommy soetomo.
