Surabaya–The terminal for the Umrah passengers at Juanda Airport, Sidoarjo, will soon be relocated from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1. Apart from enhancing its service, the relocation is also to anticipate the spreading of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus (MERS-CoV) virus to Indonesia. Therefore, the service and immigration control of the Umrah groups departing and arriving through Juanda International Airport will soon be relocated to Terminal 1.

The plan to relocate the Umrah to Terminal 1 was initially opposed by the Immigration and Customs Office, however the Angkasa Pura Airports branch of Juanda Airport insisted to do the relocation, as they have coordinated with the Head of Immigration and Customs Office in Jakarta.

“We have coordinated with the relevant authorities and Terminal 1 will soon be used for the Umrah flights,” said the General Manager of Angkasa Pura Airports, Trikora Harjo, in Surabaya, on Wednesday (7/5/2014).

Therefore, the control towards Umrah passengers coming from Saudi Arabia will be easier. In Terminal 1 of Juanda Airport, the thermal scanner and body clean disinfectant  -which have not been used for some time- will be now installed by the Port Health and Quarantine Office Port to anticipate the spreading of this virus.
