MAROS - Still in the series of World Environment Day 2014 also 50th Anniversary  Angkasa Pura Airports, the tree planting and manufacture biopori symbolically held in the area of Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Maros (14/08). The event was attended by President Director of Angkasa Pura Aiports Tommy Soetomo, Vice Governor of South Sulawesi Agus Arifin Nu'mang, Regent Maros M Hatta Rahman, officials Angkasa Pura Airports, as well as the airport community.

"Today we will plant 2,000 trees and making 50 holes biopori symbolically at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport this. Besides, we also provide support Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for the provision of 30 trash bin units to be placed in the Bantimurung tourist area," said Tommy Soetomo.

According to Tommy, Angkasa Pura Airports as an airport management company is very concerned about the environmental issues, given the operation of an airport to have an impact and influence of the environment, such as air quality, noise, water use, until the problem is either solid or liquid waste. "One of the 5 strategic direction Angkasa Pura Airports is a positive contribution to the environment. This means, we see that the management and monitoring of the environment is one of the main considerations in the entire business process of the company," he said.

For that, Tommy continues, Angkasa Pura Airports has made several programs in the implementation of policies related to environmental management, including the application of the concept of eco airport and green airport. "This concept has been applied primarily in airports recently developed, such as I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali Airport, Juanda Airport in Surabaya, and Sepinggan Balikpapan Airport. Fact at Ngurah Rai Airport we develop the application of solar technology. We are committed to implementing eco airport at airports that are currently and will be built and developed, "said Tommy.

Before the tree planting event, Angkasa Pura Airports also held environmental seminar presents speakers from among experts and academics from UGM and IPB as well as officials from the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Environment.
