PURBALINGGA - Angkasa Pura Airports along with state-owned gas company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk, PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero), state-owned lender PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, state-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) and state-owned fertilizer producer PT Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company collaborate to improve local people's economy through corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities marked by a ground-breaking or stone laid of the Village Economic Center Development Program (Balkondes) at a tourist destination Lawa Purbalingga Cave (Golaga), Central Java on Wednesday (2/10).

The ground-breaking of the Balkondes construction was carried out by Angkasa Pura Airports President Director Faik Fahmi along with SOE Minister Rini M. Soemarno, Purbalingga Regent Dyah Hayuning Pratiwi, SOE Ministry’s Secretary Imam Apriyanto and BRI Deputy Director Catur Budi Harto.

"I welcome this synergy. There are six SOEs that work together to build Balkondes. It is hoped that the construction of  Balkondes can be completed in May 2020 along with the operation of Purbalingga Airport so that tourists can visit the center. My message to the community is let’s protect the Balkondes together," said Rini.

Balkondes itself is a program initiated by the Ministry through a program BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri (SOE Presents for the Nation) that aims to increase tourism business opportunities through the development of homestays, extend the length of stay of tourists by providing various cultural performances in each village, increase the income of people living in the village and create jobs for them.

"Golaga has become one of the leading tourist destinations in Purbalingga Regency. The development of Balkondes is one of Angkasa Pura Airports' commitments to strengthen tourism supporting facilities in the form of homestays to help increasing tourist visits, both domestic and international in Golaga. It also intends to improve community empowerment in Golaga so that it can help accelerating Golaga economy,” Faik said.

To make the design unique and matching with the available locations, the architecture of the homestay will be in the form of tree house that portrays the identity of Purbalingga. The design of the homestay is taken from the analogy of the shape of pineapple which is the main commodity of Purbalingga Regency and its specialty food, roasted pineapple.

The Golaga Balkondes will have six units of pineapple homestays, one unit of family homestay and public buildings such as cafes & workshops, skybridge, pedestrian access, amphitheater and parking areas for tourist comfort in Golaga.

"It is our hope that the presence of Balkondes will also increase the role of the community to jointly improve Golaga tourism destinations and become a place to expose featured products of Purbalingga Regency," Faik added.

"Purbalingga Regency is currently [a regency] with the third highest tourist visit in Central Java. We’re very optimistic that the presence of Balkondes Golaga from the SOEs will be able to improve the ranking of Purbalingga Regency to second place or even to be the number one for the highest tourist visits in Central Java," Dyah said.
