JAKARTA - Angkasa Pura Airports as the operator of airports on middle and eastern part of Indonesia is currently preparing to welcome the mudik (hometown travel) of Lebaran 2014. Angkasa Pura Airports holds Integrated Post on every airport to monitor lebaran traffic. Farid Indra Nugraha, Corporate Secretary of Angkasa Pura Airports, explained that they predicted this year’s mudik travelers at 13 airports will increase around 10% based on previous years’ traffic (22/7).

On 2013, Ministry of Transportation (Kemhub) recorded the number of mudik travelers through Angkasa Pura airports reached 3.38 million people. According to plan, the Integrated Post will operate from D-7 to D+7 of Lebaran, which is 21 July 2014 to 5 August 2014. The post will monitor and record movements of flights, passengers, packages, cargos and airmails during lebaran traffic, and also send flight data based on a determined format to Integrated Post and Central Office Post.

Farid explained that the post will be held at reachable and visible locations and also involve related offices of airport committee, such as KPPP, Basarnas, BMKG, The Army and Police Department, LPPNPI, Airport Authority, KKP, local Health Office, local Police Department, and many others.

In accordance, Angkasa Pura Airports join The National Post located in The Office of Ministry of Transportation, which is connected through CCTV with 5 airports with highest traffic, which are Adisutjipto International Airport (JOG), Sepinggan International Airport (BPN), Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport (UPG), I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), Juanda International Airport (SUB).

To handle passenger traffic regarding extra flights, Angkasa Pura Airports had prepared airports with longer operating hours, maximizing terminals, parking areas and other airport facilities and also apron’s capacity. They also coordinate with airlines to minimize possibility of delay or cancel flights. [Diani Sekaring Sejati/Source: Kontan]
