Jakarta, April 15, 2022 - Angkasa Pura Airports  has prepared an operation and service planning to deal with the surge in passengers in the 2022 homecoming season. The endeavors include preparing the Eid Integrated Air Transport Command Post at 15 airports that will operate for 16 days starting from April 25 to May 10, 2022.

"During the Eid Transportation period from April 25 to May 10, 2022, all airports managed by Angkasa Pura Airports  are expected to serve 2.3 million passengers, an increase of 452 percent and flight traffic to reach 19,579 aircraft movements or an increase of 232 percent compared to the realization of the 2021 Eid transportation. This will be a concern for us and all relevant stakeholders at the airport to continue to provide excellent service and ensure that operations and services to passengers at the airport run well, smoothly and conducively while maintaining the implementation of the COVID-19 health protocols,” AP I’s President Director Faik Fahmi said.

The highest increase in passenger traffic and flight traffic during the 2022 Eid transportation period was estimated to occur at Juanda Airport in Surabaya, Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport and Yogyakarta International Airport with the peak of Eid homecoming flow and reverse flow predicted to occur on April 29 and May 8, 2022.

The Integrated Eid-al Fitr Transportation Post will operate according to airport operating hours and involve AP I’s internal and external personnel at the airport, including the Airport Authority Office, TNI, Polri, BMKG, Airnav Indonesia, Custom-Immigration-Quarantine (CIQ), Port Health Office, airlines, and ground handling. “We have also prepared a CCTV network connected to the Command Center at Angkasa Pura Airports  Head Office - Jakarta as well as 24-hour Contact Center 172 service to help meet the information needs related to flights and flight requirements for service users during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Faik Fahmi added.

As an airport operator, Angkasa Pura Airports  has prepared steps in the event of an emergency and disturbances caused by natural factors to force majeure. “All Angkasa Pura Airports  airports have Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including Airport Disaster Management Plan (ADMP), operational handling guidelines for natural disasters and Airport Emergency Plan (AEP) in the event of an emergency and force majeure at the airport,” Faik Fahmi explained.

Angkasa Pura Airports  will also rely on the Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC) in all managed airports. AOCC is one of AP I’s efforts in digitizing airport operations and implementing smart airports as a whole with the aim of realizing operational excellence and service excellence. The existence of AOCC involves all stakeholders at the airport by integrating the systems owned by each stakeholder in order to operate effectively and efficiently.

“This year, Eid homecoming is missed not only by all service users, but also by us as airport operator because the government has banned homecoming for two years. This momentum is also expected to boost the company’s business performance in terms of aeronautical and non-aeronautical businesses and bring a multiplier effect for the aviation and tourism industry in a sustainable manner,” Faik added.

In general, the flight requirements for Domestic Travelers (PPDN) are in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation Circular No. 36 of 2022 effective on April 5, 2022, stating that:

  1. Domestic Travelers (PPDN) are not required to show negative results of the RT-PCR or antigen rapid test if they have received the third dose of vaccination (booster);
  2. Domestic Travelers (PPDN) are required to show a negative result of the rapid antigen test whose sample is taken within 1 x 24 hours or a negative result of the RT-PCR test whose sample is taken within 3 x 24 hours before departure as a travel requirement if they have received the second dose of vaccination;
  3. Domestic Travelers (PPDN) are required to show a negative result of the RT-PCR test whose sample is taken within 3 x 24 hours before departure as a travel requirement if they have received the first dose of vaccination;

As a manifestation of the company’s commitment and support to encourage the acceleration of the vaccination program as one of the air travel requirements during the pandemic, especially at airport. As of April 15, 2022, Angkasa Pura Airports  has provided vaccination centers at 10 airports, including I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali, Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar, SAMS Sepinggan Airport in Balikpapan, Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulon Progo, Jenderal Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang, Lombok International Airport in Praya, Pattimura Airport in Ambon, El Tari Airport in Kupang, Sentani Airport in Jayapura and Frans Kaisiepo Airport in Biak.
