Welcoming Syamsudin Noor Airport New Terminal, Angkasa Pura Airports Holds Joint Prayer With 2,000 Orphans

BANJARMASIN - Angkasa Pura Airports hold a joint prayer with 2,000 orphans at the new terminal of Syamsudin Noor International Airport in Banjarmasin to mark the operation of the new terminal on Sunday (12/08) which is planned to start operating on December 10, 2019.

"This joint prayer is a form of our gratitude for the completion of the construction of the new Syamsudin Noor Airport in Banjarmasin. We hope the operation of the new terminal which is the pride of the people of South Kalimantan will run smoothly and bring a positive impact to the community's economy," said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi.

In this occasion, Angkasa Pura Airports also gave donations to 2,000 orphans from 11 foundations and orphanages of Rp310 million.

Apart from expressing gratitude and hope, Faik said the joint prayer was also intended to teach children in surrounding area about airport. In the event, the 2,000 orphans from 11 foundations and orphanages were taken around the airport and get the explanation about the functions and facilities as well as the see the grandeur of the new terminal which will be their pride.

Faik added the new terminal of Syamsudin Noor International Airport is ready to be operated on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.

"The new terminal of Syamsudin Noor Airport in Banjarmasin will start operating on Tuesday, December 10. So all of the airport’s operational activities, departures and arrivals of passengers have been moved to the new terminal from the old terminal. Boyong operation which is the transferring period of equipment and airport operational facilities will be carried out on Monday, December 9 in the evening,” Faik said.

For information, the new terminal of Syamsudin Noor International Airport has an area of 77,569 square meters or eight times larger than the old terminal which only has an area of 9,043 square meters. The new terminal has a capacity of seven million passengers per year or five times bigger than the old terminal. The new terminal is also supported by 42 check-in counters, four conveyor belts, and a waiting area of 5,185 square meters. There are also five fixed bridges and a parking area of 34,360 square meters for four-wheeled vehicles and 2,420 square meters for two-wheeled vehicles.

 A new cargo terminal has been built and has a capacity of 44,000 tons per year from only 22,297 tons per year. Meanwhile, the apron is expanded to 129,812 square meters and was able to accommodate 16 narrow body aircraft from the only 80,412 square meters and can only accommodate eight narrow body aircraft.
