JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto inspected the readiness of Lombok International Airport on Thursday afternoon (14/10/2021).

Airlangga wanted to see firsthand the efforts that have been made by Angkasa Pura Airports  in the preparation of airport infrastructure to welcome the arrival of participants and committees for the 2021 World Superbike (WSBK) to be held on November 19-21, 2021 in Mandalika, Lombok, NTB.

The airport is supported by the expansion completion of passenger terminal and renewal of Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) administrative document. The AIP also includes the latest data on runway and apron facilities at Lombok International Airport. In addition, cargo facility to support the 2021 WSBK logistics flow in the form of a 1,500-meter-long access road and a 6,000 m2 cargo yard has been 100 percent completed.

“Lombok International Airport is ready to welcome the arrival of participants, officials, and spectators of the 2021 World Superbike Championship (WSBK) motorcycle race. The expansion completion of Lombok International Airport passenger terminal has increased the total area of the passenger terminal to 43,501 m2 with a capacity of 7 million passengers per year, from previously only covering an area of 24,123 m2 with a capacity of 3.25 million passengers per year,” Angkasa Pura Airports  President Director, Faik Fahmi said.

In addition to the terminal expansion, the apron was expanded to 136,300 m2 from the previous area of only 108,100 m2. The completed apron can accommodate 16 aircrafts with a configuration of 10 narrow-body aircrafts and 6 wide-body aircrafts.

Angkasa Pura Airports has also completed the extension and hardening project of Lombok International Airport’s runway from 2,750 meters to 3,300 meters and is currently the fifth longest runway in Indonesia. Thus, the apron and runway of Lombok International Airport have been able to support the operation of wide-body aircraft, such as Boeing 777.

"Angkasa Pura Airports is committed to continuing to improve services at various managed airports, including through the development of Lombok International Airport. The airport is a strategic infrastructure to support the development of Mandalika as National Super Priority Destination and international scale activities held in Mandalika, such as World Superbike and MotoGP,” Faik Fahmi added.
