Supporting the Use of New Renewable Energy, Angkasa Pura Airports Builds a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali

Jakarta, 19 May 2022 – Angkasa Pura Airports and its subsidiary, Angkasa Pura Property, built a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali. The construction of this PLTS is a manifestation of Angkasa Pura Airports's mission to make a positive contribution to environmental sustainability and the use of New and Renewable Energy (EBT) to reduce carbon emissions while also supporting the G20 Summit in Bali.

"Angkasa Pura Airports as the airport manager is committed to realizing environmentally friendly airport operations through the application of the Eco Airport concept, the use of renewable energy and the use of clean energy in a sustainable manner. The construction of this PLTS is also the first step of our big commitment to support the government's efforts to achieve net zero emissions (NZE) in 2060," said Angkasa Pura Airports President Director, Faik Fahmi.

For the initial stage, PLTS in the form of 288 units of solar panel system (photovoltaics) with a maximum capacity of 155 kilo watt peak (kWp) will be installed and supply solar energy for the area of the International Parking Building, Domestic Parking Building and Toll Gate I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali. This PLTS was built and will be managed by a subsidiary of Angkasa Pura Airports, namely Angkasa Pura Property which already has a Business License for Electrical Power Support Services (IUJPTL).

PLT President Director of Angkasa Pura Property, Ristiyanto Eko Wibowo said that the construction of PLTS at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is a form of company synergy and collaboration in supporting the realization of Angkasa Pura Airports's mission as the parent company.

"The construction and management of this PLTS is a form of trust from Angkasa Pura Airports to Angkasa Pura Property to jointly realize the use of EBT and clean energy in supporting the operations of airports in Indonesia. This is also a new business portfolio for Angkasa Pura Property, which this year is transforming its business strategy to become a leader in property management and construction companies in the Aviation and Tourism industry segment," added Ristiyanto Eko Wibowo.

For information, Angkasa Pura Airports has implemented a number of company policies that are positively correlated with energy conservation including solar panel systems in several areas, using biofuels or other materials related to renewable energy, reducing electricity consumption by using building automatic sensor systems, magnetic cooling, and others. . In 2021, even Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport became the first Angkasa Pura Airports airport to implement the ISO 50001:2008 Energy Management System.

"The construction of this PLTS is expected to further make Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport an environmentally friendly airport and make a real contribution in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, especially in the national airport sector," added Faik Fahmi.
