SOE Minister Visits Yogyakarta International Airport Ahead of 2019 Eid Exodus

KULON PROGO – After receiving Vice President Jusuf Kalla's working visit on Saturday (4/5), Angkasa Pura Airports welcomed the arrival of the Minister of SOE of the Republic of Indonesia Rini Soemarno, at Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulon Progo for a working visit on Tuesday (7/5).

Minister Rini Soemarno and her staff landed smoothly at YIA at 12.20 local time along with other passengers in the commercial aircraft Citilink QG 132 with route Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport - Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA). In the flight, Minister Rini Soemarno is accompanied by Angkasa Pura Airports President Director Faik Fahmi and AirNav Indonesia President Director Novie Riyanto.

It was the first working visit for SOE Minister to YIA to see the operation of the airport as the first commercial flight by Citilink Indonesia had been carried out on Monday 6 May 2019 and development progress of the airport has reached 53 percent as well as to observe YIA's readiness to accommodate 2019 Eid exodus. 

"We are very enthusiastic to welcome SOE Minister, Ibu Rini Soemarno to Yogyakarta International Airport today because we want to show the airport's readiness for flight operations and 2019 Eid exodus,” said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi. 

During the 2019 Eid exodus, Faik added, all extra flights will be transferred to Yogyakarta International Airport. The transfer was done to anticipate a surge in passengers at Adisutjipto International Airport in the peak season. For information, there were 32 additional flights to Adisutjipto International Airport during 2018 Eid exodus. 

On this occasion, Rini also provided aids to 300 orphans in Kulon Progo. The aids were given symbolically by the SOE Minister, who was accompanied by Faik Fahmi, to 20 representatives of orphans at the Al Akbar Mosque in Yogyakarta International Airport.The construction of Yogyakarta International Airport is a solution to the lack of capacity of YIA despite the high demand for flight slots. 
 
Apart from that, YIA is one of the airports with the best runway specification in Indonesia. The airport has an airside facility which is ready to operate with a runway of 3,250 meters and width of 45 meters and runway shoulder of 15 meters on each side. The specification of this runway is able to accommodate wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 777-300 and Airbus A380. The Flight Accident Relief and Fire Extinguisher (PKP-PK) facilities at YIA fall into Category 8.

Meanwhile, the landslide facilities are a terminal with an area of 12,900 square meters, that is ready to be used, from a total of 210,000 square meters for the full operation by the end of 2019. The passenger terminal has 12 check-in counters, two x-rays, two walk through metal detectors (WTMD), 400 waiting chairs, six immigration counters on arrival and departure, and two bag conveyor belts.

The other available airport service facilities are signage, information counters, flight information display system, announcement, public transportation information, customer service with staff from local residents of Kulon Progo, Tourist Information Center, nursery room, kid zone, reading corner, and 400 trolleys. Facilities for the disabled includes lounges, toilets, lifts and drop zone. There are also 132 facilities care workers prepared. 

Up
