KULON PROGO - Low-cost airline (LCC) Citilink Indonesia made its first commercial flight to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta on Monday (05/06). The QG 132 flight used Airbus A320 (PK-GQR), carrying 96 passengers departing from Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport (HLP) in Jakarta at 11:30 local time and arriving at YIA at 12:15 local time.

Arriving at YIA, the aircraft was welcomed by water salute by two fleets of Flight Accident Relief and Fire Extinguisher (PKP-PK). When entering the arrival terminal, the passengers were greeted by Kulon Progo traditional dance called "Angguk Sigrak Dance" presented by PT Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko Temples.

"Citilink's first commercial flight was a historic moment for Angkasa Pura Airports and Citilink itself as the first Indonesian airline to operate at Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulon Progo," said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi.

"It is expected that the flight of Citilink Indonesia from and to YIA can be an alternative route for people who want to travel to Yogyakarta," said Citilink Indonesia VP Corporate Secretary & CSR Resty Kusandarina

HLP-YIA route replaces one of Citilink Indonesia flight schedules from Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport to Adisutjipto International Airport. Flight HLP-YIA routes operate every day using Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 180 passengers.

This flight is scheduled to depart daily from Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport at 11:30 local time and arrive at Yogyakarta International Airport at 12:40 local time with flight number QG 132. Meanwhile, the return flight will depart from YIA at 13.10 local time and arrive at HLP at 14.15 local time with flight number QG 133.

Earlier, Citilink had conducted a proving flight to Yogyakarta International Airport on Thursday (05/02).

Resty added that the opening of the new route is part of Citilink Indonesia's commitment to expand its flight network in Indonesia and as an effort to support government programs in improving connectivity between cities in Indonesia.

"Angkasa Pura Airports hopes that the opening of the Yogyakarta International Airport can improve connectivity to Yogyakarta and Central Java which later develop the economy of southern Java and its surrounding. We present this airport for the community to enjoy air travel to and from Yogyakarta and Southern Central Java," Faik Fahmi added.
