Back to ListJAKARTA - Angkasa Pura Airports has demonstrated its commitment to supporting environmental sustainability by preparing 15 environmentally friendly airports under its management and efforts to obtain “green airport” certification as well as implementing the principles of environmental conservation to its business processes in order to realize a sustainable business process.
The Covid-19 pandemic that has occurred for 2 years has had a drastic impact on the aviation and flight business. Thus, Angkasa Pura Airports long-term plan has shifted to a survival and rebound strategy without overriding sustainability.
“Airport development and management activities that have been carried out by Angkasa Pura Airports must bring social and environmental benefits to the community around the airport. Therefore, to anticipate environmental impacts in the long term, we are committed to implementing eco-airport principles and sustainable corporate principles in the operations and development of Angkasa Pura Airports,” President Director Faik Fahmi said.
Angkasa Pura Airports has introduced the concept of an environmentally friendly airport (eco-airport) through the development of a new terminal at Jenderal Ahmad Yani Airport, Semarang, followed by the full implementation of ISO 14001 standards related to the environment by I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali. Further, Yogyakarta International Airport as a new greenfield airport in Indonesia was launched in 2019 with a philosophy of sustainable and environmentally friendly architecture and infrastructure designed to withstand earthquakes and liquefaction.
In addition, Angkasa Pura Airports has also incorporated environmental strategies into its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs such as tree planting, coral reef planting, and others to encourage the sustainability of airports in Indonesia through innovation programs, participation, and reaching out to the surrounding community.

In the 2022 World Environment Day campaign with the theme #OnlyOneEarth, Angkasa Pura Airports invited all employees to participate in a Webinar to be held on June 22, 2022 with the theme “Eco-Airport Management”. “The Webinar is expected to provide understanding to all employees regarding the importance of preserving the environment at airports and as our commitment to take appropriate measures in terms of reducing the impact that may arise from airport activities,” Faik Fahmi said.
