During May 2022, Angkasa Pura Airports Serves 4.92 Million Passengers

Jakarta, June 13, 2022 - Passenger and aircraft movements at 15 airports under the management of PT Angkasa Pura Airports continued to show an increasing trend. During May, the number of passenger movements at the 15 managed airports reached 4,920,608 passengers, an increase of up to 43 percent compared to April of 3,437,225 passengers.

An increasing trend also occurred in aircraft movements reaching 41,294 flights or an increase of 1 percent compared to April of 40,569 flights.

 “Passenger and aircraft movements in May were the highest during the COVID-19 pandemic. The increase cannot be separated from the momentum of the Eid Transport period from April 25 to May 10, 2022 and were also supported by travel requirements easing policy for passengers,” Angkasa Pura Airports President Director Faik Fahmi said.

On average, passenger movement at 15 airports under the management of Angkasa Pura Airports in month was 158,729 passengers per day or only 70 percent compared to the normal period before the pandemic with an average of 224,518 passengers per day. Meanwhile, the average aircraft movement was 1,332 flights per day or only 69 percent compared to the normal period of the pandemic with an average of 1,917 flights per day.

Among the 15 airports, Juanda Airport in Surabaya served the highest passenger movement in May of 1,091,313 passengers consisting of 980,539 domestic passengers, 64,412 international passengers and 46,362 transit passengers. I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali served the second highest passenger movement of 1,010,053 passengers consisting of 772,116 domestic passengers, 237,708 international passengers and 229 transit passengers. In third place, Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar served 947,393 passengers consisting of 733,629 domestic passengers, 5,871 international passengers and 207,893 transit passengers.

As for aircraft movements, Juanda Airport, Surabaya was the busiest with 7,466 flights served consisting of 7,039 domestic flights and 427 international flights. Sultan Hasanuddin Airport was the second busiest with 7,164 flights served consisting of 7,135 domestic flights and 29 international flights. I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali was the third busiest with 947,393 passengers on 7,002 flights served consisting of 5,711 domestic flights and 1,291 international flights.

“Seeing the increasing trend of passenger and aircraft movements as of May, we are optimistic that we can achieve the targets set by the end of 2022 as the aviation and tourism industry gradually recover, the COVID-19 cases in the country are under control, followed by the operation of regular international flights at the managed 6 airports,” Faik Fahmi  added.
