Ambon – Angkasa Pura Airports Pattimura Ambon, Maluku, busted a shipment of three tons of semi-finished gold, which is allegedly belong to PT Gemala Bomeo Utama, a mining company operating in Romang Island, Southwest Maluku Regency. “Saturday (28/6) afternoon, we found 100 suspicious packages in the airport cargo area. The two officers we questioned said that the goods are semi-finished gold which are going to be shipped to Jakarta,” said Head of Operation Angkasa Pura Airports Pattimura Ambon Branch, Lucky F Pondaag, in Ambon on Tuesday (1/7).

He added that the shipment of semi-finished gold is against the law because PT Gemala Bomeo Utama is still doing an exploration. The airport management handed over the gold to Ambon Island and Lease Islands Resort Police to be processed accordingly. (Pardika Dewi RS/Source: Kompas)
