SEMARANG – The expansion construction of Ahmad Yani International Airport which cost IDR 1.5 trillion will spoil the airport customers with several facilities; one of them is an airport hotel. Though it’s still being discussed, it seems that an airport hotel will be an attractive business for an operator to run once the airport construction is finished.

General Affair and Communication Section Head of Ahmad Yani Airport, Anom Fitranggono, explained that the operator will not only rely its income source from the airport business alone, but also from its supporting facilities. This opportunity inspires the idea of building the hotel. Angkasa Pura Airports spots a golden opportunity for Juanda and Hasanudin airports to run airport hotel as an accommodation alternative for airport or public customers who need a place to stay, such as businessmen and in-transit aircrews.

In addition, Anom explained, the airport complex will be completed with other facilities, such as mall, restaurants, and an exotic ocean view. “Everything will be available inside the new airport so that we won’t have to travel far downtown. There will be a mall, restaurants and sunset view. We are also considering building a convention hall,” said Anom.

Anom expected that the airport hotel will not create a business competition in Semarang. To run the hotel management, PT. Angkasa Pura will ask other parties to join, such as Koperasi Lanumad Ahmad Yani or private parties. “We welcome entrepreneurs to invest at the airport – we won’t run it exclusively. We will leave the concept of the hotel to the investor,” said Anom. (Pardika Dewi RS/Source: Tribun Jateng).
