SEMARANG – The Minister of Finance is revising the Government Regulation No. 6/2007 to support the plans of Angkasa Pura Airports in expanding Ahmad Yani Airport Semarang. Deputy Minister of Finance, Bambang P.S. Brodjonegoro said that the project to expand the Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang needs a legal framework therefore it is necessary to revise the Government Regulation No.6/2006 on managing state/regional assets.

"We have to ensure the legality of the project by revising the government regulation, and subsequently the Regulation of the Minister of Finance will be issued. We will ask the Directorate General of State Assets to finalize this," said Bambang, Thursday (24/4). The President Director of Angkasa Pura Airports, Tommy Soetomo explained that in view of the technical aspect and the tender process, the project is ready to begin. The tender process for one of the three project packages - namely the land filling project and road construction project valuing Rp 272 billion- has been finalized.

"But we can only start the construction if the underlying-agreement for the land joint-utilization between the Indonesian Armed Forces and Angkasa Pura I, is signed by the Minister of Finance," said Tommy. Vice President Boediono underlined his commitment to support this strategic infrastructure project. "We hope to have it completed within the next few days," Tommy further confirmed.

In this opportunity, the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo hopes to have the groundbreaking ceremony of the airport in April 2014, as it was mandated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the Ministerial Cabinet Meeting in early April. "We want to ensure the public that the project is running well and the disputes between the Ministry of Finance, the State Ministry of State-owned Enterprises, and Angkasa Pura are now clear. All we need to do is to set the date for the groundbreaking ceremony," said Ganjar.

The investment allocated by Angkasa Pura Airports for this project amounts to Rp 1.1 trillion. In addition, other government institutions  also participated in the project by allocating Rp 308 billion from the Ministry of Transportation, Rp171.19 billion from the provincial government of Central Java, and Rp 8.15 billion from the municipality government of Semarang. In the master plan, the expansion of the Ahmad Yani Airport includes the construction of the apron covering 61,344 m2 in the first stage and 72,522 m2 in the second stage. With the new terminal of 40,900 m2, the capacity of the airport is projected to serve four million passengers per year. [Diani Sekaring Sejati/Sumber: Bisnis.com]
