JAKARTA - Lombok International Airport has begun to serve the arrival of riders, crew and team officials participating in the pre-season testing for the 2022 MotoGP world championship to be held at the Mandalika International Circuit. Two charter flights from Malaysia Airlines arriving on Monday (07/02) afternoon became the first flights to arrive in Lombok.

The plane with flight number MH8760 landed on Monday (07/02) afternoon at 15:56 WITA carrying 248 passengers and was followed by the plane with flight number MH8756 carrying 235 passengers, which landed at 17:57 WITA.

A cargo plane from Qatar Airways with flight number QR8496 landed on Monday night at 21.08 WITA. Boeing 777F cargo plane departing from Kuala Lumpur International Airport carried a logistic cargo of 71,318 kg.

“In accordance with the schedule for the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test to be held at Mandalika Circuit in mid-February, Lombok International Airport has begun to serve the arrival of riders, crew, team officials, and logistics for the participating teams. In particular, Angkasa Pura Airports as the operator of Lombok International Airport has implemented a bubble scheme in handling the arrival of riders and teams to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” AP I President Director Faik Fahmi said.

The bubble scheme is stipulated in Circular Letter of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force No. 5/2022 on the Bubble System Health Protocol for the 2022 MotoGP Activities in Mandalika during the Covid-19 Pandemic, issued on February 3, 2022.

“The bubble scheme has been implemented by dividing the people involved into different groups, separating people who are at risk of being exposed to Covid-19 from the general public. Interaction between groups or bubbles will be limited to minimize the risk of spreading Covid-19. The newly arrived passengers will go through a series of strict health checks by the Port Health Office (KKP) officers,” Faik Fahmi continued.

To support the smooth handling of arrival of the riders, crew, and team officials of MotoGP pre-season test at Mandalika Circuit, Angkasa Pura Airports as the operator of Lombok International Airport has prepared 12 health document checkpoints, 6 passport check lanes, 2 conveyor belts, 4 customs check lanes, as well as special modes of transportation to transport the participants from the airport to the circuit area.

Lombok International Airport once again served cargo aircraft to transport logistics for the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test participants, through the landing of a Qatar Airways with flight number QR8394 on Tuesday (08/02) afternoon. Boeing 747-F landed at 12.11 WITA carrying 77,993 kg of logistics, after departing from Kuala Lumpur.

“Currently, we are preparing to support the implementation of the second series of MotoGP Grand Prix to be held at Mandalika Circuit on March 20, 2022. With high enthusiasm in the MotoGP world championship, we put an emphasis to provide excellent service to riders, team crews, officials, and spectators while at the airport and prioritizing the implementation of strict health protocols,” Faik Fahmi said.
