Lombok International Airport Serves 71,800 Passengers During the MotoGP in Mandalika

Jakarta, 22 March 2022 - Lombok International Airport under the management of PT Angkasa Pura Airports experienced a significant spike in passenger and flight traffic during the week of the MotoGP event in Mandalika on March 15-21, 2022.

Lombok International Airport is recorded to serve 71,800 passengers with details of 41,500 arriving passengers and 30,300 departing passengers, or on average serving 10,300 passengers per day.

As for the flight traffic, Lombok International Airport was recorded to serve 663 aircraft movements with details of 332 arriving aircraft movements and 331 departing aircraft movements or on average serving of 95 aircraft movements per day.

During the COVID-19 pandemic and before the MotoGP event in Mandalika, Lombok International Airport only served an average of 3,500-4,000 passengers per day with average aircraft traffic of 40 aircraft movements per day.

“Seeing from the trend of passenger movement, the peak of arrival flow was on March 18, 2022 with 8,886 passengers traveling Lombok. Meanwhile, the peak of departure flow was on March 21, 2022 with 11,010 passengers departing from Lombok International Airport. Overall, flight operations during the week of the MotoGP at Mandalika Circuit were implemented safely, smoothly and with zero accidents,” AP I’s President Director, Faik Fahmi said.

“Angkasa Pura Airports as the operator of Lombok International Airport is optimistic that the successful implementation of the MotoGP event in Mandalika will have a positive impact on the economic recovery, aviation industry and Lombok tourism in a sustainable manner in the future,” Faik Fahmi added.
