Angkasa Pura Airports Group Ready to Succeed in the Implementation of MotoGP in Mandalika

Jakarta, March 17, 2022 - Ahead of the holding of the second series of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship at Mandalika Circuit this coming weekend, Angkasa Pura Airports and its subsidiaries have stated that they are fully committed to supporting and succeeding this grand motorcycle racing event.

Angkasa Pura Airports as the operator of Lombok International Airport, along with its 5 subsidiaries, namely Angkasa Pura Support, Angkasa Pura Property, Angkasa Pura Hotel, Angkasa Pura Logistics, and Angkasa Pura Retail, have prepared a number of support measures aimed at improving the quality of facilities and services within the airport and in Mandalika Circuit area.

“Angkasa Pura Airports Group consisting of Angkasa Pura Airports as the parent company, along with 5 subsidiaries engaged in 5 different business lines, have prepared various strategic measures to support the implementation of MotoGP in Mandalika,” AP I’s President Director, Faik Fahmi said. 

“In general, the Company supports are in the form of airport facilities and infrastructure, application of technology, provision of logistics services and facilities, as well as the provision of accommodation and hospitality support services. Angkasa Pura Airports Group in one unit, synergizes and integrates services to provide ease of service in passenger handling and logistics handling of the championship racing teams from the beginning to the end of the event,” he continued.

Angkasa Pura Airports as the operator of Lombok International Airport that is the main gateway for the entry and exit of passengers and cargo during the MotoGP at Mandalika Circuit, has completed a number of airport development projects, including passenger terminal area extension from 21,128 square meters with a capacity of 3,250,000 passengers per year to 43,501 square meters with a capacity of 7 million passengers per year, runway extension on the airside area from 2,750 meters to 3,300 meters, and increase in carrying capacity to serve aircraft operations like the Boeing 777. To provide  optimum cargo traffic services, the 1,500 meter road construction and cargo yard construction covering an area of 6,000 square meters to accommodate 40 cargo trucks have been completed. 

To further improve the quality of passenger services at the airport, two of Angkasa Pura Airports’s subsidiaries, namely Angkasa Pura Support and Angkasa Pura Retail, provided various technology-based services. To facilitate passengers in the check-in process at the airport prior to departure, Angkasa Pura Support has provided 5 units of self-check-in kiosks, 28 check-in desks based on the common use check-in system, and 10 units boarding gates. Meanwhile, Contact Center 172 and Customer Service operate 24 hours to help provide information and answer questions from service users on  airport services throughout the event. In terms of security, Angkasa Pura Support provided 230 CCTV units spreading across Lombok International Airport to monitor airport operations. To help smooth communication of service users while at the airport, Angkasa Pura Retail played a role in providing 25 WiFi access points with speeds of up to 20 MBps.

Meanwhile, for the provision of logistics services and facilities, Angkasa Pura Logistics handled the arrival of 404 tons of cargo containing the logistics of the racing teams participating in the MotoGP last week, starting from unloading cargo from cargo airplanes, distributing cargo from the airport to the Mandalika Circuit with fast track services, to cargo processing from the airport to the process of unloading cargo when it arrives at the circuit. Angkasa Pura Logistics will also play a role in transporting logistics from Mandalika Circuit back to the airport for the cargo re-exporting process.

In terms of support and hospitality services, Angkasa Pura Hotel will provide services in the form of an increase in the capacity of Concordia Lounge at Lombok International Airport, fast track services for passengers through Premium Airport Special Service, and ticket sales for prospective spectators. 

In addition to services within the airport, Angkasa Pura Airports subsidiaries will also play a direct role at the Mandalika Circuit during the race. Angkasa Pura Support will provide security and cleaning services in the Mandalika Circuit area through the provision of X-Ray and walkthrough metal detectors (WTMD) in the circuit area, as well as the provision of 200 regional security personnel and 500 cleaning services. 

For hospitality services in the circuit area, Angkasa Pura Property will provide 10 reverse vending machines, while Angkasa Pura Hotel will provide an X-Side Eat F&B outlet.

The involvement of all business entities that are members of the Angkasa Pura Airports Group is a tangible manifestation from our commitment to support the implementation and smooth running of the MotoGP World Championship at the Mandalika Circuit,” Faik Fahmi concluded.
