Jakarta – After being stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Lombok Airport returned serving international flights starting today (Sunday, 1/5/2022). AirAsia plane with registration number PK-AZM from Kuala Lumpur with flight number QZ-462 landed at Lombok Airport at 11.57 WITA. The airbus A320 carried 137 passengers, most of which were Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) returning from Kuala Lumpur.

“Angkasa Pura Airports positively welcomes the return of Kuala Lumpur-Lombok international route from AirAsia. We are optimistic that the regular operation of this route will slowly increase the number of international tourist arrivals in the NTB Province to restore the tourism sector affected by the COVID-19 pandemic for more than 2 years. We are committed to continuing to ensure that all international flight operations and services to all service users run smoothly and meet applicable security, safety and service standards,” Angkasa Pura Airports President Director, Faik Fahmi said.

“The reopening of this international route is a momentum for the revival of Lombok and NTB tourism. It is hoped that this will be the opening for the entry of international routes from other airports to Lombok. Lombok Airport is ready to serve all service users. Based on our experience of welcoming guests of the 2021 WSBK and MotoGP events in March 2022, we are ready to welcome the arrival of international tourists, including Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) as the country’s foreign exchange heroes,” Lombok Airport’s General Manager, Rahmat Adil Indrawan said.

AirAsia serves Kuala Lumpur-Lombok flights and vice versa every day. AirAsia QZ-462 from Kuala Lumpur departs at 08.25 local time and arrives in Lombok at 11.30 WITA. Meanwhile, AirAsia QZ-463 departs from Lombok at 10.30 WITA and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 13.30 local time.

“We hope that more airlines will use international flights at Lombok Airport and make a positive impact on the tourism industry in Lombok and NTB. This will create a multiplier effect for regional and national economic progress,” Adil added.

For your information, Free Tourist Special Visit Visa for 9 countries and special tourist Visa on Arrival (VoA) for 60 countries appointed by Indonesia can be implemented at Lombok Airport. With this provision, it is hoped that it will help the recovery of international tourism in NTB.
