Jakarta - Angkasa Pura Airports presented 5G internet access service at one of the airports under its management, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali to improve the quality of passenger service, namely in high-speed data services.

Angkasa Pura Airports collaborated with the mobile telecommunications operator Telkomsel by providing internet services with speeds of up to 250-300 Mbps. This 5G service at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport can be enjoyed by service users with gadgets and SIM cards that support 5G service.

This was confirmed by President Director of Angkasa Pura Airports Faik Fahmi. “During the homecoming flow with high daily passenger movements at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, we collaborated with Telkomsel to provide service improvements for airport service users, by providing 5G Internet access service,” he said.

“5G offers much faster connection speeds than previous networks, including 4G to provide improved services for service users in need of fast internet access services at the airport. We hope that this innovation can improve the passenger experience while at the airport,” he continued.

5G internet access service began to be present at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali as of April 29, 2022, and currently can be enjoyed in gate 3 and 4 of the domestic departure terminal and domestic arrival terminal areas.

During the internet access speed test, 5G network speed in the departure gate area of the domestic terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport was recorded to reach download speeds of up to 140 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 90.6 Mbps.

“Henceforward, we will continue to evaluate this service, and it is hoped that it can be applied more widely, both in terms of coverage area at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, as well as at other airports whose locations support 5G services. AP I and Telkomsel adhered to applicable regulations, especially in data security standards,” Faik Fahmi said.
