Lebaran, Tren Berlibur ke Luar Negeri Meningkat

SURABAYA - Surabaya residents use this year’s Lebaran moment to travel overseas. Compared to last year, the trend increased. "The main destinations are Hongkong and Singapore," said General Manager of Angkasa Pura Airports Juanda Surabaya International Airport Branch, Trikora Harjo.

According to Trikora, to anticipate the increase of overseas flights, 16 international flights has been added daily. "I think it’s also due to school break period which is used by families to travel to the neighboring countries," he explained. Domestic flights, he added, also increased. There are a total of 36 flights in a day. The additional flights operate since D-7 to D+7 of Lebaran.

Yesterday Juanda Airport was reported less crowded than last Saturday (26/7). On that peak of mudik, an estimated of 22,887 passengers took off with 189 airplanes headed to numerous places in Indonesia. This number was a 9 percent increase compared to last year.
