Jakarta - The plan to expand Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang, Central Java has finally obtained endorsement from the Ministry of Finance. The land utilization permit proposed by PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) shall issued in the near future. The President Director of PT. Angkasa Pura I (Persero), Tommy Soetomo in the Conference for the National Development Planning for 2014, on Wednesday 30 April 2014, said that the dispute particularly in determining the taxable land value (NJOP) of the land owned by the Indonesian Artillery Armed Forces has finally reached an agreeable point.

"I think this is just a misunderstanding, because what we have submitted is correct and the team from the Ministry of Finance has inspected the actual location. At that time, it was swamp land and we have reported this, and they checked it out and made the correction," he said. After that, the permit was issued, and the expansion can begin, with a project investment of Rp1.5 trillion, it is expected to be complete in two years.

"We have immediately started the construction by first building the roads as it is swamp land. The entrance to the apron shall come later, and then the terminal and the other supporting facilities shall follow," he said. With this expansion, the capacity shall be increased to 2.5 times the current capacity, which is three million passengers per years. "We hope to build a new airport with a capacity of 10 million passengers," he added. [Diani Sekaring Sejati/Sumber: Vivanews]
