Jakarta (01/05/2017) – Juanda International Airport Surabaya which is run by PT Angkasa Pura I (Ltd) crowned as the most punctual airports in the world in 2016 based on the analyst research institute of British Air Travel, OAG, which was released earlier this January 2017.
Juanda International Airport listed himself as the most punctual airport in the category of large airport (airports with 10-20 million passengers per year), with levels of on-time performance (OTP) average 90.30%. The next position achieved by Honolulu Airport in the United States (87.53%), Salt Lake City Airport in the United States (87.2%), Brazil Airport in Brazil (87.07%), and Brisbane Airport in Australia (86.71%).
Overall, Juanda Airport was in third place, among all the Airports included in the list “OAG Punctuality League 2016”. Ranked first was the Airport of Birmingham England by OTP average of 91.28% which was also ranked first in the category of medium-sized Airports (5-10 million passengers per year), followed by Newcastle Airport in England (OTP 90.94%), which was also ranked first in the category of small-sized Airport (2.5-5 million passengers per year).
This research result demonstrated one indicator of the successful performance of Juanda Airport in 2016 and was recognition of the International community on one of our focus on on-time performance,” said the Main Director of Angkasa Pura Airports Danang S Baskoro.
As information, ranked “AOG Punctuality League” cultivated by approximately 54 million record low for a full year in 2016 to show the performance of the best airports and airlines was divided into several categories. For Airport, it was divided by four categories, they are: small-sized Airport (2.5-5 million passengers per year), medium-sized Airport (5-10 million passengers per year), big-sized Airport (10-20 million per year), and the Main Airport (up to 20 million passengers per year), AOG defined On-Time Performance (OTP) as the Airlines which are arrived or depart in 15 minutes from the arrival time or departure time.
