Isolated Due To High Waves, El Tari Kupang Airport Branch Distributed Aid To The Residents Of The Kera Island

KUPANG, June 13, 2016 - El Tari Airport Kupang branch of Angkasa Pura Airports distributed basic necessities such as 100 bags of rice, 100 bags of instant noodles, 100 boxes of mineral water and 100 boxes of cooking oil to residents of Kera Island, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT ) on Monday (12/6).

As reported previously, since last month fishermen in Kupang and the island around Kupang could not go to sea because of the high sea waves that can reach four meters. Due to the high sea waves ; the Kera Island also isolated and cannot getting the basic needs supplies. The Kera Island itself is a small island located in Kupang Bay and is an hour's drive from the Port of Tenau, Kupang City. On the basis of that, residents of Kera Island were chosen to be given aid through the corporate social responsibility program of Angkasa Pura Airports with the theme "Ramadhan Karim".

"El Tari Kupang Airport branch of Angkasa Pura Airports re-implement the corporate social responsibility program in Ramadan as a form of management concern to the surrounding community. The residents of Kera Island were chosen as a place for aid distribution considering the condition of their society which was currently isolated from Kupang City due to bad weather and high wave so that people cannot fulfill their daily needs obtained from Kupang City," Wahyudi said as El Tari Airport Manager Kupang, Monday (12/6).

The distribution of this aid was led by Wahyudi and implemented by holding several parties, among them the Basarnas of NTT Province which acted as the provider of SAR shipping mode transportation to the location and the Navy as the safeguard of the activity. "Hopefully we can give benefit to the community here. Even with this condition, keep the spirit, keep fasting, God willing help from other parties will also be present for the people here," Wahyudi said during a dialogue with local community leaders.

On the other hand, the residents of Kera Island were very enthusiastic to welcome Angkasa Pura Airports team. By using fishing boats, the residents worked together to transport goods from BASARNAS ships to be taken to the beach.

On the sidelines of the busyness, one of the local community leaders revealed, "For a few days we could not go to Kupang City due to bad weather. We are grateful for the help given, because it will be useful to us. After this we also hope to make a relationship with Angkasa Pura Airports will keep going ".

Corporate Secretary of Angkasa Pura Airports Israwadi revealed that social activities by the branch of El Tari Airport Kupang were part of the Corporate Social Program "AP I Sharing" which is included in Ramadhan Angkasa Pura Airports Campaign "Safe Airport, Comfort going home". "In addition to basic needs, other Angkasa Pura Airports social activities in AP I Sharing Program are giving appreciation to the airport officers who served on the homecoming and returning of Lebaran 2017 by bringing their family to where the officer is in charge in order to celebrate the holiday with the family. This activity is conducted on the basis of cooperation with Traveloka," Israwadi said.

In addition, Israwadi continued, other social activities in Ramadhan Campaign "Safe Airport, Comfort going home" such as giving of Al-Quran, cleaning the mosque-churches-temple worship place, giving packages of basic necessities for mosques and churches, takjil (fasting break) free at airports, Break the fast with the airport community and orphans, and others.

"This social activity is one form of corporate concern for the social environment in carrying out sustainable business practices. It is expected to establish a sustainable relationship between the company and the surrounding community and the natural environment," Israwadi said.
