Entering its 58 Year in Service with Confidence, Angkasa Pura Airports Prepares Rebuilding the Foundation and Expanding Business Portfolio Strategy

Jakarta, February 20, 2022 – Angkasa Pura Airports entered its 58th year of service in 2022 with confidence to rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the Company’s performance. The company has set Rebuilding the Foundation and Expanding Business Portfolio strategy with the hope and confidence to return to achieving optimal performance than the previous year.

Rebuilding the Foundation strategy was implemented through strengthening the Company’s role in the tourism ecosystem, encouraging integrated recovery efforts, and minimizing the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the Company. Meanwhile, the Expanding Business Portfolio strategy was implemented through the utilization of cross-entity opportunities to expand into new segments and markets outside the company’s core business.

“We have the tagline Rebound to Win for the Company’s 58th anniversary in this year, representing our hope and enthusiasm to return to achieving optimal and better performance than the previous year. To survive amid the pandemic, the Company has 23 strategic initiatives with the primary focus on business model innovation and technology leadership and 2 significant strategic programs in 2022, namely Business Turnaround and Financial Restructuring,” Angkasa Pura Airports President Director Faik Fahmi stated.

In terms of the Business Turnaround program, the Company pursued strategic policies through optimization of revenue enhancement and cost leadership efforts to support resilience and boost the Company’s financial health. In addition, the Company optimized its role in the air connectivity ecosystem and destination management business to support economic recovery and review the feasibility and implementation of operational excellence with the new normal protocol.

Meanwhile, in terms of the Financial Restructuring program, the Company made efforts to maintain financial resilience and revitalize the subsidiaries’ business to increase the Company’s values and make an optimal contribution to the Company’s business growth.

“We hope that the strategic programs and initiatives set in the 2022 Company Work Plan and Budget can encourage continuous improvement of the Company’s performance and support the spirit of development as set forth in the strategic plan of the Ministry of SOEs and PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) as the Aviation and Tourism SOEs Holding,” Faik Fahmi stated.

Aviation Traffic Projection in 2022

In 2022, Angkasa Pura Airports projected an increase in passenger traffic to 38.8 million passengers, an increase of 36 percent compared to passenger traffic in 2021 of 28.4.8 million passengers (unaudited). Meanwhile, aircraft traffic was projected to grow by 37 percent to 547,787 aircraft movements from 400,475 aircraft movements in 2021 (unaudited) and cargo traffic was projected to grow by 4 percent to 451,024 tons from 433,904 tons in 2021 (unaudited).

“We see several factors to support the projections achievement, including high COVID-19 vaccination rate throughout Indonesia, support for international events where our airports are the gateway of the international events, such as the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP and the G20 Bali Summit, and the opening of international flights in Surabaya,Bali and Manado in early 2022,” Faik added.

The Company’s Revenue Target

Angkasa Pura Airports has targets to reach total operating revenues of  Rp4,882 trillion, an increase of 44 percent compared to 2021 of Rp3,379 trillion (unaudited). The targets include aeronautical revenue in 2022 of Rp2,089 trillion, increased by 51 percent compared to 2021 of Rp1,380 trillion (unaudited), non-aeronautical revenue of Rp2,577 trillion, increased by 39 percent compared to 2021 of Rp1,851 trillion (unaudited), and other income and finance of Rp216 billion, increased by 46 percent compared to 2021 of Rp148 billion (unaudited).
