Three International Airlines Propose Reactivation of Flight Routes to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali

Jakarta, 18 February 2022 – Angkasa Pura Airports received applications to reactivate regular international flight routes to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali in March 2022. The three international airline companies have officially submitted applications and are in the licensing process, namely KLM Royal Dutch, Scoot, and JetStar Airways.

“Angkasa Pura Airports warmly welcomes the plan to reactivate the international flight route slots from KLM Royal Dutch, Scoot, and JetStar Airways at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali. This is a positive signal for the recovery of international airline companies and foreign tourists’ trust to fly to and holiday in Bali,” Angkasa Pura Airports President Director Faik Fahmi said.

Based on flight plan data, KLM Royal Dutch airline will operate four flights a week on Singapore-Denpasar flight route, using 408-seater capacity Boeing B-777s. Meanwhile, Scoot will recommence operating three flights a week on Singapore-Denpasar flight route using 108-seater Airbus A-320.

Meanwhile, JetStar Airways will operate three flights a week on Singapore-Denpasar, Sydney-Denpasar, and Melbourne-Denpasar flight routes. JetStar will use a 180-seater Airbus A-320 on Singapore-Denpasar flight route, and 335-seater Boeing B-788 or 323/186-seater Airbus A-321/A-320 on Sydney-Denpasar and Melbourne-Denpasar flight routes.

“Angkasa Pura Airports is committed to support all efforts to revive international flight traffic amid the COVID-19 pandemic by applying strict health protocols and ensuring its operations in accordance with applicable regulations. Looking ahead, we are optimistic that the number of international passengers and flights to Bali would increase gradually and help the recovery of the local people’s economy and Bali tourism in a sustainable manner,” Faik Fahmi added.

For information, since Garuda Indonesia and Singaore Airlines returned international flight operations at Bali Airport on February 1-18, 2022, international flight passenger traffic at Bali Airport has reached 639 passengers. In the period before the 2019 COVID-19 pandemic, international passenger traffic at Bali Airport reached 13.8 million passengers with international aircraft traffic reaching 73,886 aircraft movements.
