Jakarta, March 12, 2022 - Angkasa Pura Airports has prepared operational scenarios and potential risk mitigation to ensure the smooth implementation of the 2022 MotoGP to be held in Mandalika on March 18-20, 2022.

A total of 2,592 flight slots were available at Lombok International Airport to support the implementation of the 2022 MotoGP. To date, 609 slots have been occupied and 1,983 flight slots were available to be occupied  by airlines wishing to apply for extra flights.

“During the event on March 17-22, 2022, Lombok International Airport is expected to serve up to 18,800 passengers per day, an increase of 5 times compared to the daily average passengers during the pandemic of only 3,500 passengers per day,” President Director of Angkasa Pura Airports, Faik Fahmi stated.

To support the smooth handling of the arrival of riders, crew, official teams and all spectators, Angkasa Pura Airports has prepared 260 personnel per shift consisting of internal employees such as Aviation Security, Terminal Service Officers, Customer Service, Facility Care, and external parties such as Immigration Officers, Ground Handling, Customs, KKP, MGPA Committee and Bubble Task Force.

“Angkasa Pura Airports together with all relevant stakeholders are committed to jointly ensuring smooth operations and anticipating potential risks that can affect the continuity of the 2022 MotoGP in the airport operator's areas, such as the possibility of over capacity, bad weather that may cause planes to be unable to land and other risks.” Faik Fahmi explained.

The mitigation concept was “One Day Trip” in the Triangle Area of Lombok International Airport - I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali - Juanda Airport, Surabaya, including various mitigation efforts such as Seamless operating hours that operate 24 hours during the event.

In addition, aircraft parking will be repositioned if there is over capacity in the aircraft parking configuration on the apron of Lombok International Airport. The apron capacity available at Lombok International Airport can accommodate a total of 24 aircrafts with a configuration of 10 narrow-body aircrafts and 6 wide-body aircrafts.  Meanwhile, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali can accommodate a total of 31 aircrafts with a configuration of 20 small-body aircrafts, 18 narrow-body aircrafts and 4 wide-body aircrafts and Juanda Airport Surabaya can accommodate a total of 27 aircrafts with a configuration of 16 small-body aircrafts, 8 narrow-body aircrafts and 3 wide-body aircrafts.

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali and Juanda Airport in Surabaya also function as alternate aerodromes if Lombok International Airport is not operating due to bad weather or conditions that could potentially block the runway. Angkasa Pura Airports would coordinate with the airlines if it is necessary to increase the number of aircrafts, fleet management, aircraft rotation, and the readiness of ground handling operators to serve the triangle routes.

Angkasa Pura Airports together with the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation also provided free shuttle buses at Lombok International Airport. A total of 31 buses with a total capacity of 925 seats have been prepared to support the mobility of service users who want to watch the 2022 MotoGP in Mandalika.

“Through our various endeavors, it is expected that we can support the smooth implementation of the 2022 MotoGP and support security, safety, comfort and health for all service users traveling to Lombok,” Faik Fahmi added.
