DPR RI Commision IX Inspects The Readiness of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Ahead of The 2020 G20 Summit

Jakarta, January 28, 2022 - I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport - Bali received a working visit from Commission IX of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) in the context of inspecting airport readiness ahead of the 2022 G20 Summit (KTT) to be held in Bali in October 2022.

The working visit was intended to inspect the readiness of airport services and facilities as the main entry and exit gates for delegates from the participating countries of the G20 Summit. Commission IX also put an emphasis on the implementation of health protocols for delegates and airport service users in general.

“On Thursday (27/01), Commission IX of DPR RI conducted an inspection at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport to carry out the supervisory function on the implementation of health protocols, service quality, and airport facilities. Given that the event is a grand state agenda to be attended by a number of heads of state, heads of government, and high-ranking officials from G20 member countries, as an airport operator, we will handle the arrival and departure of delegates and ensure that the quality of services, facilities and implementation of health protocols can be implemented according to procedures. In principle, I Gusti Airport Ngurah Rai is ready to support and welcome the holding of the G20 Summit in October,” President Director of  Angkasa Pura Airports, Faik Fahmi said.

“In relation to the implementation of health protocols, we have prepared special routes for arriving and departing delegates, both at the VIP Building, International Terminal, and Domestic Terminal. The route will be equipped with a Thermo scanner and officers from the Port Health Office to check the completeness of health documents as flight requirements. We have also prepared a special parking stand allocated for the VIP delegation’s state aircraft parking,” he continued.

During the inspection, Commission IX of the DPR RI also took the time to inspect PCR Minilab and RT PCR test booths to be used to perform RT PCR Test for delegates who have just arrived at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. RT PCR test booth has the capacity to perform 930 tests in 1 hour.

Member of Commission IX of DPR RI Krisdayanti stated that the inspection was intended to ensure the airport's readiness as an important supporting infrastructure for the grand event. “This is one of our duties to carry out supervision. Commission IX of the DPR - RI inspects the airport readiness before the G20 takes place. Airport is a country’s main gateway, passengers must comply with health protocols in accordance with the regulations. Therefore, we conducted supervision in detail,” she said.

Krisdayanti said to Angkasa Pura Airports to maintain service quality. “For Angkasa Pura Airports readiness as host, we want cleanliness and friendliness. This means that all necessary information can be obtained by all guests of the G20 member countries and the company has good operational standards. As of the end of December 2021, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir also conducted a working visit to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. During his visit on December 28, 2021, Erick Thohir stated the importance of the airport's role in the success of the G20 Summit.

For information, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is equipped with a runway with dimensions of 3,000x45 meters, 47 parking stands (36 parking stands for narrow-body aircraft and 11 parking stands for wide-body aircraft) on the north apron, 16 parking stands for narrow-body aircraft on the south apron, international terminal covering an area of 126,205 m2, domestic terminal covering an area of 67,884 m2, VIP building, General Aviation Terminal (GAT), boarding pass scanners, autogate at immigration checkpoints, and self-check-in kiosks that are beneficial in handling the delegations of the 2022 G20 Summit, both VVIP, VIP, or regular delegates.

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has endless experiences in supporting the implementation of various major world events, including the 2013 APEC Summit and the 2018 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
