JAKARTA – The Board of Commissioners of Angkasa Pura Airports presented the 2013 Best Airport Award on Monday (4/8). The awards were divided into two categories; Class A Airport and Class B Airport.
Winners were announced by Tunjung Inderawan, Commissioner of Angkasa Pura Airports. Acting as judges of this award was journalist, The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Indonesian Transportation Society, and Indonesian Consumer Foundation (YLKI). Surveys on each airport’s customer were comprehensively taken.
The first winner of Class A was I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali Airport and followed by Juanda Surabaya as the second winner. “Juanda Airport won the prize of Class A due to their significant service quality improvement,†Tunjung explained.
For Class B, the first prize went to Ahmad Yani Semarang Airport and followed by Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin Airport at the second place. “Ahmad Yani Airport won the first place of Class B because there was an improvement on the airport’s public facility, which was The Sapta Pesona (Seven Tourism Elements) Clean Toilet. Meanwhile, Syamsudin Noor Airport was chosen due to its many innovations done for the airport’s customers and employees, for example by doing a gotong royong (Indonesian tradition of working together to achieve mutual goal(s)),†explained Tunjung.
The first and second winners of Class A are entitled of cash prize of Rp. 300 million and Rp. 200 million, while for Class B Rp. 250 million and Rp. 150 million. Each winner also received piala bergilir (rotational trophy) and piala tetap (dedicated trophy).
“This is the third year the award has been presented. This award is meant to boost each airport’s enthusiasm for excellence and their competiveness in improving Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI)" said Suratto Siswodihardjo, President Commissioner of Angkasa Pura Airports. Accordingly, the rating will be done continuously every year at every airport run by Angkasa Pura Airports. The award presentation was closed with halal bihalal (the traditional post-Idul Fitri gathering) joined by Board of Directors, Board of Commissioners, and employees of Angkasa Pura Airports.
