JAKARTA -  As an effort to support the improvement of the safety of flight operations in a sustainable manner, Angkasa Pura Airports held a Focus Group Discussion Runway Safety Team. The activity was carried out virtually and was attended by the Directorate of Airports and SMS & RST Subject Matter Experts as resource persons and representatives from PT Angkasa Pura II, Perum LPPNPI, INACA, KNKT, BMKG, Airlines, Ground Handling and all AP I’s Branch Offices.

“As a certified airport operator, Angkasa Pura Airports has a high commitment to the implementation of the Runway Safety Team to achieve airport safety performance. The implementation of the Runway Safety Team cannot be realized if only some parties contribute to the activity so that an active role from all airport stakeholders is needed from the planning, implementation, monitoring to program evaluation phases,” AP I’s Operations Director, Wendo Asrul Rose said.

The implementation of the Runway Safety Team aimed, among other things, to improve identification, consolidation, and analysis of hazards jointly between the airport operator and stakeholders at the airport. In addition, through the FGD, it is hoped that there will be an alignment of interpretations so as to create collaboration between stakeholders at the airport in realizing a more effective Runway Safety Team implementation.

“Through the FGD, it is hoped that all parties will be able to participate and continue to improve coordination to support the safety of flight operations at the airport in a sustainable manner and to support improved services to service users and better safety guarantees,” Wendo Asrul Rose added.
