JAKARTA - Angkasa Pura Airports stated that the airport under the company’s management, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport - Bali, is ready to support the grand international event of the G20 High-Level Conference (G20 Summit) to be held in Bali at the end of October 2022.

This was conveyed by AP I’s President Director, Faik Fahmi at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport - Bali on the sidelines of working visit of the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir related to Bali’s readiness to host the G20 Summit on Tuesday (28/12) afternoon. During the working visit, Erick Thohir inspected the readiness of a number of supporting infrastructure, including I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali Mandara Toll Road, and the Nusa Dua area that will be the main venue.

"I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport as the main air gateway for the island of Bali, and in this case is the main gateway in air transportation for the delegates, is in principle ready to support the implementation of the 2022 G20 Summit. We have specially prepared special routes at international and domestic terminals designated for the delegate arrival and departure. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we will implement strict health protocols when handling the arriving and departing delegates,” AP I’s President Director, Faik Fahmi said.

“For the VIP I delegates, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, heads of state, and heads of government of the countries participating in the Summit, and the VIP II delegates consisting of state officials at the ministerial level of the countries participating in the Summit, we have prepared VIP Building facility for handling the delegates. We have prepared mechanisms for health checks, immigration, and customs in the VIP building. We have also allocated a parking stand for a special parking lot for state aircraft to be boarded by VIP delegates,” he added.

For entry points, apart from the VIP building, three other entry points have also been provided through the international terminal, domestic terminal, and the General Aviation terminal. In addition, to support the smooth flow of delegate arrivals, a personal helper for the G20 delegates will also be provided.

Faik Fahmi also explained the implementation of health protocols for the delegates. For handling delegate arrival through the international arrival terminal, the delegates will pass a special line equipped with a Thermo scanner to detect the body temperature of newly arrived delegates. After that, the delegates will undergo a number of health examination tests carried out by the Port Health Office (KKP), including checking the complete health documents as flight requirements, RT-PCR test results, and further health checks if needed. The delegates who are declared healthy will enter the immigration, baggage claim, customs, and holding areas before heading to the pick-up area.

For arrivals via the domestic arrival terminal, the delegates will undergo a health check through a Thermo scanner and an inspection of the health document as flight requirements by the KKP. Angkasa Pura Airports together with relevant stakeholders are trying to ensure the improvement of the health check system to facilitate the delegates, including the digitization of integrated health documents.

During his inspection at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir stated the importance of services at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in supporting the implementation of the 2022 G20 Summit. “When the delegates come here, they have high expectations for Indonesia’s services known worldwide. We have checked the facilities. Similar to other sites inspected today, little improvements would be necessary, it is no big deal. The plan is to have an expansion of the VIP Building into approximately 2,428 m2,” SOEs Minister, Erick Thohir said.

“As it can be seen that the airport has been optimal, Indonesia has good facilities. I think this is important for the revival of the Bali economy and the Indonesian economy more broadly,” he continued.

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport - Bali has been equipped with a runway with a dimension of 3,000x45 meters, 47 parking stands (36 parking stands for narrow-body aircraft and 11 parking stands for wide-body aircraft) on the north apron, 16 parking stands for narrow-body aircraft on the south apron, an international terminal covering an area of 126,205 m2, a domestic terminal covering an area of 67,884 m2, VIP building, General Aviation Terminal (GAT), boarding pass scanners, immigration autogates, and self-check-in kiosks, that will be very helpful in handling the delegates of the 2022 G20 Summit, both VVIP, VIP, and regular delegates.

“Angkasa Pura Airports, particularly I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport - Bali has had a lot of experience in supporting the implementation of various world-class events, including the 2013 APEC Summit and the 2018 IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting. The airport is the first place for the delegates to set foot in Bali, so we are committed to giving a good impression and providing excellent services with Indonesian hospitality as mandated in the Company’s vision,” Faik Fahmi concluded.
