Committed to Prevent Covid-19 Spread, Angkasa Pura Airports Continues Operational Adjustment

JAKARTA - Angkasa Pura Airports conducted periodic evaluations of operational adjustments at its 15 airports based on the development of the COVID-19 pandemic as the number of people in the country tested for novel coronavirus has reached 6,000.

Angkasa Pura Airports also extended the operational adjustment period at several airports until May or July. This was done to help preventing the spread of COVID-19 and as a corrective action in facing drastic reduction in aircraft passenger traffic.

"Angkasa Pura Airports is trying to be responsive in responding to the dynamic development of the COVID-19 pandemic by conducting periodic evaluations of the operational adjustments at our 15 airports. Until now, we have extended operational adjustment periods in several airports until May or July. This adjustment is extended if the pandemic has yet to indicate an improvement," said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi.

Below is the details of the change in operating hours and operational adjustments at 15 airports managed by Angkasa Pura Airports:

1. Juanda International Airport in Surabaya will operate for 18 hours (05:00 – 23:00) from 24 hours. The operational adjustments made are the relocation of domestic flight operations from T2 to T1, partial closure of T2 operations (downsizing gate area 8-12) and reduction of operating facilities such as x-rays, toilet cubicles, air conditioners, and lamps. This operational adjustment is temporarily in effect until June 16, 2020.

2. I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali will operate for 19 hours (07:00 – 02:00) from 24 hours. The operational adjustments made are temporarily closing the International Terminal gates 1B, 1C, and gates 5-9 as well as the west entrance. This operational adjustment is temporarily in effect until May 8, 2020.

3. Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman (SAMS) Sepinggan International Airport in Balikpapan will operate for 12 hours (06:00 – 18:00) from 17 hours (06:00 – 23:00). Operational adjustments include closing the check-in and baggage claim in eastern area, temporarily closing boarding gate area 1-4 and reducing operating facilities such as x-ray and others. This operational adjustment is temporarily in effect until May 29, 2020.

4. Adisutjipto International Airport in Yogyakarta continues to operate 13 hours (05:00 – 18:00). The operational adjustments made are closing the departure area at Terminal A domestic and temporarily close Terminal B International (arrival and departure). This operational adjustment is temporarily in effect until May 20, 2020.

5. Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulon Progo will operate 15 hours (05:00 – 20:00) from 24 hours. The operational adjustments made are temporary closure of the international terminal and reduction of one check-in area. This operational adjustment is temporarily in effect until June 12, 2020.

6. Adi Soemarmo International Airport in Solo will operate 14 hours (06:00 – 20:00) from 18 hours (06.00 - 00.00). Operational adjustments include temporary closure of international terminal and airport train stations on first, second and third storeys. These operational adjustments are temporarily in effect until May 29, 2020.

7. The General Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang will operate 16 hours (06:00 – 22:00) from 18 hours (06:00 – 00:00). Operational adjustments include temporary closure of international terminal, restrictions on operational areas at the passenger terminal, temporary closure of vehicle parking lots on the 2nd and 3rd storey. These operational adjustments are temporarily in effect until 30 April 2020.

8. Lombok International Airport in Praya will operate 15 hours (06:00 – 21:00) from 24 hours. Operational adjustment includes the temporary closure of international terminal. This operational adjustment is temporarily in effect until May 17, 2020.

9. El Tari International Airport in Kupang continues to operate 16.5 hours (06:00 – 22:30). The operational adjustments made are the temporary closure of international terminal, reduction of operating facilities such as x-ray, lighting and air conditioners as well as temporary closure of new parking areas.

10. Syamsudin Noor International Airport in Banjarmasin will operate 12 hours (06:00 – 18:00) from 17 hours (06:00 – 23:00). Operational adjustments include reducing the number of boarding gate from five to three gates, the boarding room operations from five to three zones, operating facilities such as prayer rooms, nursery rooms, toilets, customer service counters, and others. This operational adjustment is temporarily in effect until April 30, 2020.

11. Sam Ratulangi International Airport in Manado will operate 14 hours (06:00 – 20:00) from 24 hours. The operational adjustments include the temporary closure of international terminal (arrival and departure) and the closure of the gate area 1-3 at passenger terminal in the second floor. The operational adjustments are temporarily in effect until May 29, 2020.

12. Pattimura International Airport in Ambon will operate 14 hours (06:00 – 20:00) from 17 hours (06:00 – 23:00). The operational adjustments include halted the operation of gate 4, operational reduction of one aviobridge, two toilet cubicles, one internet corner, one entertainment television, 10 split air conditioners, and 66 lighting lamps. These operational adjustments are temporarily in effect until July 3, 2020.

13. Frans Kaisiepo International Airport in Biak will operate nine hours (06:00 – 15:00) from 14 hours (06:00 – 20:00). The operational adjustment is the temporary closure of the domestic terminal. This operational adjustment is temporarily in effect until May 4, 2020.

14. Sentani International Airport in Jayapura will operate 11.5 hours (06:00 - 17:30) from 14 hours (06:00 – 20:00), specifically for logistics and does not serve passenger. This operational adjustment is temporarily in effect until April 30, 2020.

Ninety-five Planes Parking for Long-term at 11 Airports Operated by Angkasa Pura Airports

Until April 17, 2020, Angkasa Pura Airports recorded there were 95 aircraft that had been parked for long-term at 11 airports managed by Angkasa Pura Airports for undetermined time.

The details on the number of aircrafts and the airports are as follows:

  1. I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport: 30 aircrafts,
  2. Juanda International Airport: 19 aircrafts,
  3. Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport: 12 aircrafts,
  4. SAMS Sepinggan International Airport: five aircrafts,
  5. Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA): four aircrafts,
  6. Adi Soemarmo International Airport: three aircrafts,
  7. Lombok International Airport: five aircrafts,
  8. Syamsudin Noor International Airport: eight aircrafts,
  9. Sam Ratulangi International Airport: seven aircrafts,
  10. Pattimura International Airport: one aircraft,
  11. Frans Kaisisepo International Airport: one aircraft.
