Yogyakarta -  After many banners that were against the construction of the Kuloprogo Airport appeared, now banners pro the construction of the airport have started to emerge. The Kuloprogo Concerned Community (Masyarakat Peduli Kulonprogo or MPK), Saturday (26/4) started to display 10 banners in strategic locations in Glagah and Palihan Village of Temon Subdistrict. The red colored banners were put in the Pedukuhan Turi, Mlangsen intersection, Sindutan and the Glagah Village Hall.

The banners showed writings such as : Bandara Sida Aku Rapapa, (“If the airport is built we don’t mind”). “As a response to the plans of building an airport, “the interest of the country is our common interest too”, “We should think positively of building the much needed Airport”. The Chief of Police of Temon Precinct, Police Commissioner Sukadi, said that they found 7 locations with such banners but the source is unknown and it is still under investigation.
The banner claimed by MPK (Kulonprogo Concerned Community): "Although there is a competition of banners, the atmosphere of the local people is still conducive. The police shall maintain a conducive climate, by intensifying routine patrols particularly in the area of Sindutan, Glagah and Palihan," he said on Monday (28/4).

One of the members of MPK, Bayu Putro Pangaribowo said that these banners are an expression of solidarity. There are 10 banners and there are still more to come. "All this while there were only the contra banners against the building of the airport, but actually in reality there are still many local people that support the expansion of the airport, that is why we agreed to display these banners. The number of supporters are hundreds and shall be coordinated," he said. The main reason for their support is to improve their welfare. He urges the plans to empower the people, both for those against and for those who are pro. "MPK is also ready to give moral support to the other local people who are pro" he said.
