MANADO – The Angkasa Pura Airports branch of Sam Ratulangi Manado Airport is aiming to distribute soft loans for Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in North Sulawesi by the end of the year to reach a total amount of Rp 1.4 billion. Until now, Sam Ratulangi Airport has financed 647 UMKMs as business partners with total loans amounting Rp 21 billion. The General Manager of Angkasa Pura Airports branch Sam Ratulangi Airport, Maslin Panggabean said that the soft loans provided to the SMEs are part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which can be used as working capital.

“We have started this activity since 2002 and the business growth is quite encouraging,” he said to Bisnis, on Tuesday (20/5/2014).” He elaborated, that the CSR program consists of 2 types: soft loans and grants, meanwhile the grants that we have provided are in the form of agriculture tools, rice grinder, installing  public bathrooms, and many more.

He continued, the soft loans from Angkasa Pura Airports are only a stimulus for the SMEs to start their business. If their business continues to grow, the SMEs can apply for a bank loan. “Since we are only limited to give loans amounting to a maximum of Rp 50 million, if the business is expanding, we will direct them to go to the bank for a loan,” he explained.
