Denpasar – I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport now awaits for the instructions from the Ministry of Health to install the thermo scanner. The Communication Staff of Angkasa Pura Airports branch of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Sherli Yunita explained, the instrument is available and has been prepared by the Port Health Office (KKP). Yet they are still waiting for the instruction from the Ministry of Health to install the device.

“The thermo scanner was prepared by the KKP office and is ready for operations. However, we are waiting for the instructions to install it from the Ministry of Health and the instrument is now at the airport,” she said, on Thursday (8/5). Ngurah Rai Airport in fact has prepared a special isolation room for passengers arriving from the Middle East as well as from transit airlines from all Middle East areas. All passengers must pass through this special isolation room, however, more emphasis is given to passengers coming from or transiting in the Middle East.

The instrument installed in Ngurah Rai Airport is actually just a body temperature scanner. The passengers are required to pass through the thermo scanner. If the body temperature is above normal, the passenger will be isolated and examined carefully. “If a passenger is detected or indicated then he/she will be quarantined at the Port Health Office and will be referred to an assigned hospital,” she said. The normal body temperature is from 35 to 36 Celsius Degree. If the body temperature is above the normal then the passenger will be further examined by the officer.
