As a form of Social and Environmental Responsibility, Angkasa Pura Airports Disburses Rp5.6 Billion in the First Semester of 2021

JAKARTA – Angkasa Pura Airports is consistently committed to realizing Sustainable Development Goals through Social and Environmental Responsibility programs. This is carried out through the implementation of Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility programs.

In the first semester of 2021, Angkasa Pura Airports has disbursed social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) funds of Rp5.6 billion, consisting of disbursement of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) fund of Rp350 million, assistance for environmental development program of Rp4.53 billion, and assistance for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Rp799.528.500.

As a business entity operating within the community, the Company has a social responsibility to the environment and surrounding community. The Company’s commitment to improving community welfare and environmental sustainability is the key to business sustainability where stakeholders benefit from the Company’s business continuity.

“In addition to contributing to the realization of air connectivity through the development of airport infrastructure in Indonesia, Angkasa Pura Airports also contributed to improving community welfare through the Company’s Social and Environmental Responsibility Program,” said President Director of Angkasa Pura Airports, Faik Fahmi.

The environmental development programs that have been implemented in the first semester of 2021 were natural disaster sector assistance for flood victims in Manado and Banjarmasin as an embodiment of Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11) (Sustainable Cities And Communities); assistance in the field of education and training for the construction and renovation of educational facilities, and DIII Airport scholarship as an embodiment of SDG 4 (Quality Education); assistance in the health sector in the form of mobile health services in Yogyakarta and Semarang as the embodiment of SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing); assistance for public facilities in the form of Posyandu construction, construction of a residents’ secretariat building and a foundation for the recovery of victims of drug abuse as the realization of Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities And Communities); assistance in the field of worship as an embodiment of SDG 4 and 11; and social assistance for poverty alleviation for foundations and orphanages as an embodiment of SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

To operate a sustainable business, Angkasa Pura Airports consistently anticipates potential impacts, both on social and natural environment. Therefore, the Company strives to pay attention to and fulfill mutual interest and expectation of the Company’s stakeholders, especially the community near the Company’s operational areas, through the implementation of programs that are in accordance with Sustainable Development Goals.

During New Habit Adaptation Period, Angkasa Pura Airports adjusted the CSR strategy to help the community in dealing with the impact of Covid-19 pandemic. The Company’s initiative is to provide a stimulus for installment payment of the Company’s fostered partners to maintain their business continuity. In addition, the Company has also actively participated in assisting to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and helping people affected by the pandemic through meeting the needs of medical equipment and basic food assistance. The assistances in the form of medical devices and supporting facilities consist of disinfectant liquid, hand sanitizer, goggles, portable hand washing facility, personal protective equipment (PPE), disinfectant spray equipment, thermo gun, cloth mask, N95 mask, rubber glove, desktop computer, printer, face shield, ambulance, medical shoes.

To support the business strategy, the Company designed a CSR program relevant to the airport business, DIII Airport Scholarship Program for high-achieving high school graduates in the Company’s work area.

In addition, the Company designed CSR program to support regional tourism development, such as construction of public facilities in tourist attractions, plantation of coral reefs, and reforestation in tourist areas. The public facilities built in tourist attractions near the Company’s airports, such as Laisana Beach in Kupang, Pulisan Beach in Manado, Penggger Pine Forest in Bantul, Taru Jurug Animal Park in Surakarta, Besakih Temple in Bali, Bantimurung Park in Maros were public toilets, trash cans, construction of photo spots, construction of commercial areas in tourist attractions, construction of footbridges in mangrove tourism park, and so on.

In addition, the Company contributed to the realization of Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Wellbeing through an initiation of a mobile health service program under the tagline of “Healthy Mother and Children, Strong Nation”. The program, which was initiated in 2012, is a public health service program, including treatment for pregnant and lactating mothers, treatment of infants and toddlers, monitoring growth and development of toddlers, mandatory immunization in 12 branch offices of Angkasa Pura I Airports.

In the field of education, Angkasa Pura Airports also initiated Digital Library Program in Semarang to increase public interest in reading through the provision of a website containing e-books for public, youth, and children, classical literature, 2013 curriculum books for Elementary and Middle Schools, audiobooks and movies.
