Angkasa Pura Airports Updates Eight Airport Rescue And Firefighting Vehicles In 2020

JAKARTA - Angkasa Pura Airports is updating eight aviation accident and fire fighting vehicles (PKP-PK) in seven airports it manages in 2020. A total of five PKP-PK vehicles were sent to five airports managed by Angkasa Pura Airports in January.

That is a form of compliance and commitment to the requirements of aviation safety stipulated in Director General of Civil Aviation Decree No. KP 14 of 2015 on Technical Standards and Operations of Civil Aviation Safety Regulations Section 139 Volume IV. In the regulation, specifically chapter XI, it is stated that PKP-PK vehicles whose reliability does not meet the requirements or are more than 20 years old, must be replaced or rejuvenated.

"The renewal of PKP-PK operational vehicles is the company's commitment to adhere to the aviation safety and security requirements in which these two things are absolute requirements in aviation along with service and compliance," said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi.

The delivery of PKP-PK vehicles was carried out in two stages, phase I and II. Five vehicles will be delivered in phase I in January 2020 and three more in phase II delivered in June 2020. In phase I, five vehicles have been delivered to Adisutjipto International Airport in Yogyakarta, Sultan Aji Muhammad Airport Sulaiman (SAMS) Sepinggan International Airport in Balikpapan, Lombok International Airport in Praya, Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, and Syamsuddin Noor International Airport in Banjarmasin. While in the phase II, two vehicles will be sent to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali and one to Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar.

 

For information, the updated PKP-PK vehicle is a type I on-road and off-road vehicle and fulfils several criteria: (1) diesel engine equipped with a minimum Euro II turbo charger, (2) full automatic transmission, (3) the color of the body is yellowish in accordance with CIELAB international color system, (4) has 12,500 liter water capacity (5) has capacity for 1,500 liter foam  (6) Scania P310 III engine/euro (7) performance pump (6,500 liters/minute), and (8) has a powder discharge range of at least eight meters.

In terms of performance, the vehicle has a full-speed capability of 100 km/h with acceleration capable to reach 80 km/h in 40 seconds, the minimum discharge range roof turret is 70 meters, and the braking distance at 32 km/h must stop at a distance of 12 meters while at a speed of 65 km/h must be able to stop at a maximum distance of 40 meters.
