Angkasa Pura Airports Sign Joint Agreement With The Directorate General of Civil Aviation

JAKARTA - Angkasa Pura Airports (AP I) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation on cooperation and preparation of a study on management transfer of Sentani Airport in Jayapura and Mutiara Sis Al-Jufrie Airport in Palu on Thursday (6/9) in Jakarta.

The signing was carried out by president director of Angkasa Pura Airports Faik Fahmi and acting director general of Civil Aviation Pramintohadi Sukarno.

 The MoU is the initial basis of the cooperation, which aims to prepare the study of the management transfer of the two airports deemed beneficial, efficient, sustainable and in line with the prevailing regulations.

“Angkasa Pura Airports are ready to accept the assignments to manage Sentani Jayapura Airport and Sis Al-Jufri Airport in Palu by developing them commercially as well as improving services for the airports’ customers. Those [measures] are also expected to stimulate regional development, which is going to ultimately improve the local economy,” Faik said.

The scope of the MoU includes the use of state property under Utilization Cooperation (KSP) scheme.

Through the agreement, Angkasa Pura Airports will explore the opportunities for sustainable collaboration with both Sentani Airport and Mutiara Sis Al-Jufrie Airport by compiling the utilization cooperation of state property at the Sentani Airport, including investment plans based on the airport’s master plan and other investment plan according to the utilization cooperation proposal of the aforementioned airport.

“The results of this study will be evaluated by the Director General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transportation and used as a basis to create a cooperation agreement. We hope the plan on commercial transfer of both airports in the eastern Indonesia will bring positive impacts to the equitable distribution of local economic development,” Faik added.

“This signing is an initial step for all involved parties to participate in developing economic potentials in Papua and Central Sulawesi, especially [with the improvement of Sentani Airport in Jayapura and Mutiara Airport Sis Al-Jufrie in Palu which can bring positive contributions for the people in Papua and Central Sulawesi,” Pramintohadi said.
