JAKARTA - Angkasa Pura Airports invited some business owners to the “Tenant Gathering” event at Ritz Carlton Hotel, Jakarta, on Sep. 5, in a bid to start partnerships in several airports following the recent launch of Ahmad Yani airport in Semarang, and the ongoing development of several airports in the country, which are set to operate in 2019 and 2020.

Devy Suradji, Director of Marketing and Services of Angkasa Pura Airports, said the event was held to open the window of opportunity for business owners to develop their outlets in the airports.

“The event also aims to elaborate potentials and opportunities that can be developed by Angkasa Pura Airports and the future airport tenants, so the cooperation will be profitable and become value added service for passengers,” Devy said.

Currently, Angkasa Pura Airports is developing three airports as a part of the country’s National Strategic Projects (PSN), namely Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang, Syamsudin Noor Airport in Banjarmasin, and Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulonprogo. The development is conducted to solve the lack of capacity problems in some airports, which happened because of the significant passenger traffic growth per year.

The capacity of Ahmad Yani airport, for instance, was only about 800,000 passengers per year, but in 2017, it should serve 4.4 million people. The new airport is set to serve 6.9 million people per year or ninefold increase compared to its previous capacity.

Even though the development is yet to be completed, Ahmad Yani airport has started operating since June 2018.

Angkasa Pura Airports is also developing other airports, such as I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali; Terminal 3 of Juanda Airport, Surabaya; Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Makassar; Lombok Praya Airport, Lombok; Sam Ratulangi Airport, Manado and El Tari Airport, Kupang.

In 2017, 13 airports managed by Angkasa Pura Airports served 90 million passengers, an increase of 6 percent compared to the previous year. According to Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) survey conducted by Indonesia National Air Carriers Association (INACA), 40 percent of those passengers made more than five trips per year and 64 percent of passengers shopped at the airport.

Passenger potential growth per year and the massive airport projects will be great opportunities for retail business owners.

“We invite business owners to become tenants in the airports, which are being developed by Angkasa Pura Airports. Together, we will grow and give unique service and experience to the passengers,” Devy said.

She added the cooperation would improve the airports’ business as it could increase the non-aeronautical revenue.
