Angkasa Pura Airports Siap Spin Off Angkasa Pura Retails

Jakarta – Angkasa Pura Airports will soon establish a subsidiary, as a spin-off retailer of the Angkasa Pura Retails. The Marketing and Business Development Director of Angkasa Pura Robert Daniel Waloni said that this subsidiary company is a strategic move to gain earnings from the non-aeronautical sector.

“The purpose of establishing this subsidiary is to become the biggest retailer in ASEAN as well as preparing for the 2015 ASEAN Single Aviation Market (ASAM),” he said in the press release in Jakarta, on Monday (12/5/2014). Last year, the earnings from the non-aeronautical increased to 52.51% from the previous year and reached 39.3% from the total company earnings. In 2014, the contribution target for this sector is 52.1% from company earnings.

To reach this target, the company participated in the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference in Singapore, 11 to 15 May 2014. The TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference is an event where retailers in duty free, travel retails and airport service providers industry assemble and share information in Asia Pacific area.

This is the first time for Angkasa Pura Airports as one of the state-owned enterprises managing and providing airport services joined such an event as one of 255 exhibitors. “The participation of Angkasa Pura Airports in this event is evidence of the seriousness in realizing the transformation process of this company,” he added.

As an airport service provider, Angkasa Pura Airports recognize the importance of retail business management, especially in the commercial area of the airport. “This is a golden opportunity for us to attract world class retailers to join us in collaborative partnerships with airports in Indonesia,” said Waloni.

Waloni further explained , that by having famous international brands, such as Yves Rocher, Lego Group, Herms, Nestle, Philip Morris, P&G, Hugo Boss, Unilever, Versace and others, it will open great opportunities to develop international partnerships in this duty free and travel retail industry.
