Angkasa Pura Airports serves a total of 3.6 million passengers at 15 airports in March 2022

The number of passengers in March 2022 grew by 55.5% compared to that in March 2021

Jakarta, April 7, 2022 - Angkasa Pura Airports  recorded to have served 3,692,998 passengers during March 2022, or an increase of 55.5% compared to the same period in the previous year of 2,374,737 passengers at 15 managed airports. 

Likewise, cargo traffic was 39,720,699 kg of cargo, increased by 7.82% compared to March 2021 period of 36,840,901 kg of cargo. Meanwhile, the company recorded 35,740 aircraft movements in March 2022, decreased by 9.9% compared to March 2021 of 39,695 aircraft movements at 15 airports under the management of Angkasa Pura Airports . The decrease was due to a decrease in the number of charter and non-commercial aircraft movements by 86%. In contrast to the number of charter aircraft movements, domestic and international aircraft movements grew by 14.6% and 39.6%, respectively.

“In March 2022, we recorded a positive trend of passenger, aircraft, and cargo movements at 15 managed airports compared to that in March 2021. The increasing number of passengers and flight traffic reveals that people’s confidence to travel by air transportation is restoring. As the operator of 15 airports in Indonesia, Angkasa Pura Airports  offsets the flight traffic growth by implementing strict health protocols, in addition to providing the best service for airport service users,” AP I’s President Director, Faik Fahmi said. 

For the record, in March 2022, Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar was the airport with the highest number of served passengers among the 15 airports managed by Angkasa Pura Airports  with 830,719 passengers. Juanda Airport in Surabaya was in second place with 766,305 passengers, followed by I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali with 605,133 passengers.

Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar served the most aircraft movements, with a total of 6,398 aircraft movements. Juanda Airport in Surabaya and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali were in second and third place with 5,567 and 4,774 aircraft movements, respectively. 

As for cargo traffic, Sentani  Airport in Jayapura served the most cargo with 11,155570 kg, followed by Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar with 6,642,734 kg, and Juanda Airport in Surabaya with 5,973,482 kg of cargo.

On average, during March 2022, the 15 airports managed by Angkasa Pura Airports  served 119,129 passengers per day, 1,153 aircraft movements per day, and 1,282,313 kg of cargo movements per day.

“We are optimistic about the projected growth of passenger and flight traffic, especially with various supporting factors, including relaxation of air travel requirements facilitating prospective passengers, the permission for the 2022 Eid homecoming exodus, and the return of regular international flights, particularly in Bali, Surabaya, Lombok and Manado. We believe that it will have a positive impact on the growth of passenger traffic at our airports,”  Faik Fahmi concluded.
