Angkasa Pura Airports Reopens Terminal A of Adi Sutjipto Airport to Public

Jakarta – Angkasa Pura Airports as the operator of Adi Sutjipto Airport – Yogyakarta has reopened terminal A for departure as of Tuesday, February 1st   2022. Previously, the departure process was held through terminal B since the beginning of last year.

 “Starting today, terminal A of Adi Sutjipto Airport in Yogyakarta has been reopened to passengers as departure terminal. In the future, terminal B will be deactivated for any passenger service operations,” President Director of Angkasa Pura Airports Faik Fahmi said on Tuesday.  

While refunctioning the terminal A as a passenger departure, Angkasa Pura Airports also optimizing services for passengers, as well as implementing strict health protocols. Terminal A itself is located in an area of 9.899 m2 , while terminal B is on 6.162 m2 area. The larger the terminal, the more requirement to be fulfilled especially when it comes to health protocols implementation. And this is what we are trying to optimize.” He continued.

Previously, terminal A of Adi Sutjipto airport is deactivated since the beginning of 2022. By that time, it was used to showcase small and medium enterprises products and creative industry in Yogyakarta with a concept namely TILAS (Titik Lawas Adisutjipro) since May 29, 2021.

Adi Sutjipto Airport Sees Passenger Growth

According to Angkasa Pura Airports data, Adi Sutjipto Airport has served 140.011 passengers and 3.125 aircrafts during last year. Although the number was lower than what company has served in 2020, which as many as 1.523.153 passengers and 14.958 aircrafts were landed in the same period, however there was still a growth trend in the second half of 2021 at Adi Sutjipto Airport.

After experiencing a drastic decline of passengers number in July 2021 due to the implementation of public acitivity restriction (PPKM) in across the country, Adi Sutjipto Airport has seen a significant increase passenger and aircraft traffic in the second half of 2021 with the average monthly passenger growth up to 82.6%. Similarly, the aircraft movement also increase which supported up to 50%. In total, the airport saw  31% passenger growth from 60.613 passengers in the first semester to 79.398 passenger in the second half of 2021.

“With a wider space and larger boarding area capacity, terminal A of Adi Sutjipto Airport will now be able to accommodate the increasing number of passengers. The larger space of parking stand area in this airport has accommodate 8 parking stands to support the ease of operations at airside terminal. Terminal A also equipped with TILAS, a small and medium enterprises products and creative industry showcase to better increase the passenger experience journey,” said Faik Fahmi. (Yeni Mujiatin)
