JAKARTA -  Angkasa Pura Airports recorded passenger traffic growth of 47.2 percent in October 2021 compared to September 2021, from 1,943,424 passenger movements in September to 2,860,812 passenger movements in October 2021.

The company also recorded aircraft traffic growth of 31.4 percent in October 2021, from 23,379 aircraft movements in September 2021 to 30,730 aircraft movements in October 2021. Likewise, cargo traffic grew by 9.6 percent from 35,589,981 kg in September to 39,028,581 kg in October 2021.

“After the Emergency PPKM period in July 2021, flight traffic continued to experience growth where in October 2021, passenger traffic reached 2.8 million passenger movements, increased by 47.2 percent compared to passenger traffic in September 2021. The relaxation of air travel restrictions since September and October had an impact on increasing flight traffic. However, the health protocols are still strictly implemented at all Angkasa Pura Airports according to procedures,” AP I President Director, Faik Fahmi said.

The highest passenger traffic in October 2021 was at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar of 664,514 passenger movements, while the second highest passenger traffic was at Juanda Airport in Surabaya of 570,487 passenger movements, and the third highest passenger traffic was at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali of 464,840 passenger movements. Meanwhile, total flight traffic at 15 Angkasa Pura Airports from January to October 2021 was 21,255,164 passenger movements, 258,698 aircraft movements, and 340,981,684 kg of cargo.

In October 2021, the Company served an average of 92,284 passengers per day at 15 airports. Although there was an average daily passenger growth compared to last September which was only 64,780 passengers per day, the increase was still unable to match the average daily traffic in the period before the implementation of Emergency PPKM, particularly for May 18 - July 2 period, where the average daily passenger traffic reached 119,845 passengers per day.

“Along with the easing of people’s mobility restrictions, particularly in using air transportation, amid the decline in Covid-19 cases and the injection of 200 million Covid-19 vaccines as of November 5, 2021, it is hoped that flight traffic will continue to increase until the end of the year. The international racing event World Superbike 2021 in Mandalika on November 19 to 21 is also expected to increase flight traffic and restore Lombok tourism,” Faik Fahmi said.
