Angkasa Pura Airports President Director Inaugurates New Mosque at Syamsudin Noor International Airport

BANJARMASIN – Angkasa Pura Airports President Director Faik Fahmi inaugurated a new mosque at Syamsudin Noor International Airport in Banjarmasin on Monday (05/27). The two-story mosque is called Nur Rahman Mosque that has an area of 1,800 square meters and can accommodate 1,200 worshipers.

"The establishment of Nur Rahman Mosque is a commitment of Angkasa Pura Airports in supporting the worship of airport users, airport communities, and people living around the airport. The mosque which was inaugurated in the holy month of Ramadan ahead of Eid al-Fitr is also an effort to improve service to airport service users ahead of the Eid exodus this year,” Faik said. 

The inauguration of the Nur Rahman Mosque at the Syamsudin Noor International Airport is the third inauguration of mosque at airports developed by Angkasa Pura Airports. Earlier in April 2019, Baitussalam Mosque at General Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang and Al Akbar Mosque at Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulon Progo were also inaugurated.

Apart from inauguration, Angkasa Pura Airports also provided aids to 1,000 orphans and the signing of the inauguration inscription.

For information, the Nur Rahman Mosque is part of the project to develop Syamsudin Noor International Airport which is targeted to be completed by the end of 2019.

There are two work packages on the Syamsudin Noor International Airport development project, namely Package I of constructing a new terminal building and Package II of constructing supporting buildings and aprons. The Nur Rahman Mosque building is included in the Package II. 

As of May 12, 2019, the progress of the development of Syamsuddin Noor International Airport has reached 73.31 percent with the details of Package I is of 65.27 percent while Package II is of 84.98 percent.
