JAKARTA - Angkasa Pura Airports conducted operational simulation of the new terminal of Banjarmasin’s Syamsudin Noor International Airport Saturday (12/7) before it operates on Tuesday (12/10).

The simulation involved hundreds of employees who are stakeholders in flight operations dealing with passengers, parking attendants, aviation security officers, customer service, ground handling officers, and related agencies such as customs and immigration.

The simulation starts with the passenger's journey from Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru to the new terminal (land transportation trial) followed by checking the first and the last baggage, the passenger arrival and departure, goods flows at the terminal, and the vehicle flows in the landside areas.

Meanwhile, the simulation on the airside includes docking and undocking avio bridge, recording aircraft movement data as well as checking block off to holding time, checking block on to holding time, flows at baggage make up, and baggage flow breakdown.

For Aircraft Accident and Fire Rescue (PKPPK), the simulations are the use of hydrants, emergency evacuation routes in the terminal and supporting buildings as well as important locations in case of emergencies.

"We’re asking people to pray and support this final preparation to run smoothly so that the new icon of the pride of the people of Banjarmasin and South Kalimantan can be enjoyed by all Indonesians," said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi.
